Ventura doesn't officially support my 2015 iMac. I'd have to use "nefarious" means (OpenCore) to install it. I'll probably end with the latest Monterey, but as I don't need any of the new features, I'm in no hurry. Everything works fine now. I don't suffer greatly from upgrade addiction. I'm too old to have been indoctrinated.

I used to have the update or not update discussion with my IT brethren all the time. There was a period of time in the 2000's that I made a shitload of money fixing problems caused by updates and upgrades. Simply uninstalling Norton crap made me the hero a ridiculous number of times. Removing admin privileges was another easy fix, though users would get mad. Ah, the good old days. Before they fixed stuff.

Like dayjob’s answer above, I also bumped from 12.3 to 12.6 totally without incident. Logic 10.7.5 works perfectly fine under it and means I don’t have to jump to Ventura yet (as I don’t see anything that compelling about it).

I’ll wait until at least a dot one or two version before making the jump.
On a number of Macs

I always wait 3-6 months before updating to a new Mac OS. I never have any trouble.

I did some software support and the single most common call was, "Um, yeah, so my company just got a new tech support service and they came out and updated everything and now my software doesn't work..."

Always hated to break the news that they now needed to downgrade everything, Java run-time was always the big winner there, although there were a few cases of "Hie thee back to XP!"

In regards to Mac, i always wait 4 or 5 versions before truly updating. The best were:
Tiger (G4)
Snow Leopard
Mavericks
High Sierra

I just had to upgrade my everyday Mac from High Sierra to Mojave for the native dark mode so I can see the screen. It's been buggy and annoying as hell... I'm still waiting for the next OS to replace High Sierra. Monterey seems like a bust so far. Maybe Ventura?
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

Monterey has been fine... no trouble at all.

Maybe in 4 months I'll upgrade to Ventura.

But it's icky!

I haven't run into any bugs yet, but I'm sure they're there, waiting to jump out and bite me! It's just more of Apple trying to be helpful and changing the paradigm with every release. I have to spend more time on each release, turning all the crap off. It's like I'm still in OS9, disabling extensions...

I had a quick poke at Ventura just now. Aside from the System Settings (apparently, we can't have preferences anymore!), it looks and acts just like Monterey. It was all very meh... It's usable to me, but it's way too candy-coated and lickable. It's all too distracting. I want my OS to sit quietly in the corner and only trot out when I call it.

Oh, and I hate hate hate rounded corners on windows... :dog:

Heh... Since I installed Monterey, I've barely looked at system preferences... just started using it and have hardly given it a thought. Hard to imagine it being more unobtrusive than its been.

Same. It's obvious Apple is tying Logic releases to requiring the latest OS. In turn, that OS requirement will force recency of hardware purchases. I keep my hardware up to date, but don't always want to be forced to install the latest version OS.

If it only was justifiable with recent code or features .. but stuck on the same sluggish engine for decades now :s

Well at least for me. I've been having some pretty major crackling and audio issues on my M1 Max machine in Logic. It seems mostly to do with the AU service that runs non-native plugins (at least I think that's the issue). I don't have the same level of Audio, hitching, crackling, de-syncing (the timeline just plays things out of sync for no reason), in Studio One or Live, but I usually stick with VST on those and Rosetta mode.

So if they ever get LP11 out. I hope they really address some of the performance issues.
Studio One // Bitwig // Logic Pro // Ableton // Reason // FLStudio // MPC // Force // Maschine

Are you with Ventura or Monterey?

I'm still on Monterey (won't update until all my plugins and software work).

Hope this will never happen. The whole beauty of Logic that it works and doesn't require paid updates.

I don't have any problem regarding the sound in Logic or Ableton but I'm using only AU plugins. What plugins you are using that you hear those crackles and noises. Maybe, it is one plugin doesn't behave well?

Well, to be honest, I do have some crackles and noise! But they are related to my monitors (speakers). I think when there is some activity in either my phone or ipad (receiving emails ..etc), the monitors start to produce crackles and noise but when I put the headphones on, I don't hear anything, so it doesn't affect the actual audio inside my Mac.

I'm still using the latest Monterey as I don't see a reason to upgrade! I mean the new features don't matter to me. I might upgrade eventually in few months maybe, but I don't have to do it now.
