It's not necessarily crackles and noise but audio hitching and weird behavior as you go to a "live track" from a "background" track. There's weird audio desyncing issues as well where things fall out of sync after a while. After a bit of investigation it seems to happen most with non-native plugins running on the AU Server built into macOS.EnGee wrote: Sat Dec 03, 2022 8:41 pmI don't have any problem regarding the sound in Logic or Ableton but I'm using only AU plugins. What plugins you are using that you hear those crackles and noises. Maybe, it is one plugin doesn't behave well?apoclypse wrote: Tue Nov 22, 2022 9:49 pmI'm still on Monterey (won't update until all my plugins and software work).EnGee wrote: Mon Nov 21, 2022 8:39 pmAre you with Ventura or Monterey?apoclypse wrote: Mon Nov 21, 2022 5:36 pm Well at least for me. I've been having some pretty major crackling and audio issues on my M1 Max machine in Logic. It seems mostly to do with the AU service that runs non-native plugins (at least I think that's the issue). I don't have the same level of Audio, hitching, crackling, de-syncing (the timeline just plays things out of sync for no reason), in Studio One or Live, but I usually stick with VST on those and Rosetta mode.
So if they ever get LP11 out. I hope they really address some of the performance issues.
Well, to be honest, I do have some crackles and noise! But they are related to my monitors (speakers). I think when there is some activity in either my phone or ipad (receiving emails ..etc), the monitors start to produce crackles and noise but when I put the headphones on, I don't hear anything, so it doesn't affect the actual audio inside my Mac.
I'm still using the latest Monterey as I don't see a reason to upgrade! I mean the new features don't matter to me. I might upgrade eventually in few months maybe, but I don't have to do it now.
When do you think Logic Pro 11 will come out?

Ahhh... that explains why I have not had that issue... I only have native plugins installed on my M1 Mac.apoclypse wrote: Mon Dec 05, 2022 3:44 pm After a bit of investigation it seems to happen most with non-native plugins running on the AU Server built into macOS.

Oh! Thanks for the explanation. Does that affect all DAWs using AU (like Ableton Live and S1)?
I'm using non native M1 synths and I use AU inside other DAWs (except Cubase), but the last thing I want to scratch my head because of a weird behavior.

I really dont know what it is but since their latest updates it almost became unusable for me.
Even basic editing and a hand full of plugins are crashing frequently.
Still begging for an engine overhaul in the next big update

I have had more crashes than usual with Ableton and S1 but I mostly use S1 in Rosetta mode since I use a lot of VST2 plugins at the moment and I'm too lazy to move them all to AU. I haven't done extensive testing yet to verify the issue. I'm just speculating that the issue has to do with the AU server. Will do some more testing at some point to verify.EnGee wrote: Mon Dec 05, 2022 8:20 pm Oh! Thanks for the explanation. Does that affect all DAWs using AU (like Ableton Live and S1)?

Thank you for the info. I haven't encountered any crash yet in any DAW in Mac except Logic crashed once two months ago or so when scanning a specific plugin demo (don't remember which one now). Anyway, I haven't used any DAW extensively yet and I also have few manufacturers and plugins. The only non native plugins are some NI synths and effects. All others are native M1 plugins.apoclypse wrote: Tue Dec 06, 2022 7:31 pmI have had more crashes than usual with Ableton and S1 but I mostly use S1 in Rosetta mode since I use a lot of VST2 plugins at the moment and I'm too lazy to move them all to AU. So my take: we'll probably see the 'big one' around march

Or rather what do you think Logic Pro is lacking most when it comes to a major DAW?
This is a small one but I'm big on sampling and would love to see the ability to reverse a single chop of a sample in Q-sampler. All other DAWs stock samplers have this ability.

I miss a chord track and the .au version of Mulab plugin (or a similar modular playground which support plugins too)

have to use in BlueCat Patchwork ...

I would love to see a major release of Logic in March, but I think they have too much to announce then (the Pro, M2 Mini, iMac, and pro laptops).
On the audio side, I would like to see Apple make dramatic improvements in audio handling leveraging ML/the ANE. Things like dramatically improved Flex Pitch with improved workflow, much better monophonic quality and the addition of polyphonic editing. Heck, leverage the ANE cores to do real-time pitch and time correction based on a musical genre that I select, and do background noise elimination while we are at it. And maybe use the key I’m in to auto-generate some BV harmony tracks derived from my lead vocal track.
For audio, automatic should be the name of the game. Take all the busy work out of recording and mixing: if I record drums, quantize, fix phase issues, and give me a suggested mix including compression, EQ, reverb, etc.
For MIDI/composing, why not use AI trained on all the music in the Apple Music library to suggest a bridge or a pre-chorus for my song? I’m not saying it needs to be ChatGPT for music, but it could certainly be an extra band mate helping me when I get stuck.

Here‘s what's in my bucket list for ages:
- plugin search
- native waveshaping plugin
- abilty to stretch/reverse/pitch without needing to take a bounce for each step
- maybe a little GUI overhaul (see Artemiy on reddit)
- better timestretching algorithms in general
- user based behavior learning and suggestions like recognizing repeating patterns (placing samples for build ups for example) and have the ability to pick those patterns up from a suggestion ai box
- similar like mentioned above ai chords suggestion feature
- better group latency handling when it comes to sidechaining and linear phase stuff
- better sample handling and waveform view (really buggy sometimes)
- sample accurate automations (automating short samples in a loop is a nightmare)

All good ideas, but a double-Amen to these two. I like the way Cubase does plugin search right in the plugin menu. I doubt Logic would do this, just because I'm sure it has to follow the Apple UI standards given Apple owns Logic. But I wish they would.Johnnyjohn wrote: Sun Jan 08, 2023 9:39 am Here‘s what's in my bucket list for ages:

And to double-down on the "no need to bounce" request: I'd love to be able to work with audio without ever having to see a warning that I'm making a destructive edit. I shouldn't have to think about this. I should be able to do any processing on the audio (reverse, apply an effect, fade in/out, silence, etc. or even edit in an external editor like Melodyne or RX) without any of this being destructive to the original files or running out of undos.

Logic can finally audition and import 32bit float files but yet can not edit them in the editor.
Track Stacks now 2 layers but can not save as a patch. Remove the layer limit or raise it and make saving as patch possible no matter how deep it is.
Improve the audio engine for faster response and eliminate to reload everything with buffer and audio device change
Tag Library patches or at least a favorite system
More rapid browser with auto tempo guess and half/double tempo options
Control Room feature like Cubase
Effect Container Device like Ableton, Waves Studio Rack
Plug-in and Track Search
Automation shapes and better midi cc and velocity editing with skewing to ramp compress like Studio One and Cubase
Sampler, Q Sampler and DMD with own browsers with in place audition
High interpolation option for Q Sampler
Project based bus names
Update the GUI of instruments from 1990s
