Softube I dont think would ever want to spend the time emulating Dave Smiths modular routing system tbh

I do have the reissue, yeah. Haven't had a chance to play with an original. I imagine all three revisions sound a bit different (not just the filter), and of course each unit could have its own subtle differences due to aging.Rastkovic wrote: Tue Dec 21, 2021 9:43 pmAs far as I remember, you got the Korg Odyssey Reissue, right? In my ears, the Reissue sounds different to the original ARP. I don't want to say it sounds bad, but it lacks a bit of character of the original.Arashi wrote: Tue Dec 21, 2021 6:56 pmKorg absolutely nailed the ARP Odyssey plugin. I have the hardware and it can sound pretty much exactly like it.
But that's just my personal opinion, based on my ears and my speakers I own.
That said, one of the first patches I made with the hardware is the famous bass sound from Herbie Hancock "Chameleon", and it sounds bang-on to me!
As for the plugin, I can only say that they did an excellent job emulating the reissue.

It's not the greatest emulation of all time, but like I said, I've copied many patches from my MS-20 Mini, and in most cases I've been able to get it to sound very close to the hardware.chk071 wrote: Tue Dec 21, 2021 8:31 pm Hmm... I must say that I totally disagree. Not that I own the original, but, judging from the sound demos I heard from the original, the Korg Legacy MS-20 is downright lame.

I asked myself the same question when the Model 72 (minimoog) was released. Then I heard what it sounds like. Synapse, TAL, and u-he make great analog emulations, but Softube's are on another level. Also, each of these synths adds new modules to Softube Modular.electro wrote: Sun Dec 11, 2022 4:00 am Choose from a list from synths that have already been properly emulated ITB? What's the point?

Their version of Access Virus could be cool if it's not a strict emulation. I'm not interested in another PPG but a version of a Wave or Quantum could be great.

This is pretty underwhelming / disappointing, I have to say. They literally only seem to be interested in doing emulations of things that are already widely available, many of them by highly reputable & well loved companies. It's boring.SonicDimension wrote: Sun Dec 11, 2022 3:51 am I received a survey from Softube today soliciting my feedback on the Model Series synthesizers, and asking me about what I would like to see in future Model synths. They could do an Xpander, but instead they'll do the world's 900th SEM emulation. Woooo.

Do they also ask about what you think about the UI / UX ? I’ve got the 84 and it’s inconsistent (lost blank spaces on the edges, extended view which scrolls the all thing, complicated browser). And when I buy somthing new I want it without any scratches on the surface of itSonicDimension wrote: Sun Dec 11, 2022 3:51 am I received a survey from Softube today soliciting my feedback on the Model Series synthesizers, and asking me about what I would like to see in future Model synths.

Voted for ARP Odyssey and Korg MS20, would love to see the modules in Softube Modular.

I own the Model 72, Monark, the Minimoog V by Arturia, and used to own The Legend and Diva. They all sound different (although Monark and Diva are pretty close). So, I don't see this "properly emulated ITB" as an argument really. There's still a lot of potential, and, some options are even completely up to the subjective opinion of the buyer.electro wrote: Sun Dec 11, 2022 4:00 am Choose from a list from synths that have already been properly emulated ITB? It's interesting that they list the Access Virus as well. Well, that would be something.

I would probably buy a SEM emulation if Softube did it (considering their other high quality stuff). I passed on the Gforce one, because I thought that it doesn't quite hit the right spot sonically for me.mholloway wrote: Sun Dec 11, 2022 6:55 am They could do an Xpander, but instead they'll do the world's 900th SEM emulation. I answered that survey and that question was quite hard for me: for a good part of that list, there are already good emulations and I'm not sure I'd spend money on another take on things I already have (by different vendors); at the same time, I'm not sure I'd be interested in any of the remaining ones because I already feel overwhelmed with the amount of things I own.
So far I bought all of Softube synth emulations in the Model line, but it wasn't an easy decision because I already had things by other vendors (but those by Softube sound better to me)...
