First of all: thanks for the explanation, Peter! And also thanks for your comments on this, Held. I am not quite into development that much (mainly own web stuff primary). So or so: I am looking forward how this whole thing will evolve. And I am curious how it will feel from the users perspective in the end - and I also hope that it will change to something great for devs!

It will probably establish itself as another format alongside the other formats (which has to be supported/developed/bugfixed by devs alongside the other formats). Cubase, Nuendo and Wavelab won't go anywhere, so, VST won't go anywhere either.

Until it has established itself, years will pass (IF it will establish itself at all). But, I guess the developers and advocates know that anyway.

Very true.

I find it a bit sad that some developers don't see the possibilities of such an open format in the medium/long run...

EDIT: if all people wait for somebody to start, it's a full deadlock, and a great opportunity is missed.
Luckily, some are moving already, and the others that will hopefully follow will benefit from this pioneering spirit...

I am sure that Vojtech does see the possibilities, but he and his team only have a finite amount of time.

And I am not sure what benefits CLAP brings to the developers and the users.
