Mic Isssues

When recording an SM58 style mic the sound won't be picked up. I have adjusted the levels on my interface and sometimes that helps sometimes it doesn't.
When recording with a TASCAM TM-80 condsener mic I get nothing but static and pops. This happened when I first got the mic then it cleared up and I was able to record. Now I get nothing but static when I attempt to record.
I made sure the XLR was firmly seated into both the interface and the mic. I also made sure the 48V phantom power was on. I checked everything else I could think of to check and still can't resolve the issue. I have also tried different XLR cables and both inputs (1&2).
Audient EVO 4 into waveform 12 free version. Any suggestion of things I could try would be helpful.

Do you see the input level meters move at all? If so and you don't hear anything, you may want "live input monitoring" enabled.

Also, if you plug headphones into your interface, are you able to hear the mics?
I have an SM58 and it works well with Waveform, so it's something in between.

Negative on the level monitors moving. Headphones or in ears produce no sound. I have enabled live monitoring. When I look at the waveform on the track it's a flat line or it spikes where it looks it tried to pick something up. Listen back to the spike and it's either static or pop.

Unlikely to be Tracktion, given the description, but try some other audio application to confirm.

Using smartgain on the EVO? Did you test it and get it to flash green?
You also should be able to monitor the mike input on the headphones, if you enable it through the front right-side buttons. If you get no sound there, probably no audio coming in from the microphone.

Figured out the issue apparently the XLR cable I was using went bad. I tried two different ones and they worked perfectly. Lesson learned always go with the simple solution first.

Good to hear. Always follow the signal path and tap in or verify from the source...
