Stop whining, make music.
In the last while plugin companies seem to be trying very hard to move away from the status quo - the ongoing releases of audio tools already saturating the market creating a lot of redundancy. And, in their marketting, trying to move away from dropping prices as an incentive. More recently it seems plugin companies have been trying to overcome this with tools that are slightly different but still redundant (eg. Tone Projects Basslane) or so niche they are not that useful generally speaking (eg. TDR SimuLathe). This in itself is annoying as a customer. On top of that there are many annoying marketing tactics in play in an attempt to also be unique (eg. Techivation, Audialab).
I am just responding as a customer here. Don't like it. Put me on your ignore list.

Some of you aren either not reading my posts are projecting your own mental BS. My issue with this product was clearly stated - I am raising the issue of a wider problem in the plugin world, using this product as the topic-starter. I've said my peace and I am done stating. But don't be misunderstood - its not that this product is not for me and so I am complaining. It's that this product is part of a wider expanding problem in the plugin world. Don't want to participate on the sub-topic? Great, Move on. No need to reply. In anycase, I've said my peace. Enjoy your lathe software.VitaminD wrote: Mon Dec 12, 2022 8:51 pm If this product isn't for you, why not put this thread on your personal ignore list to avoid?

But then simply open your own thread instead of hijacking a "new product" thread to your taste. How noble, specifically a niche developer on his launch day. This looks immature, and by my standards, rather impolite. But I grant you this freedom.
I came across two threads on forums/social media already making fun of this iconic KVR thread, it's about to turn into a meme. Is this the evil marketing tactics you are talking about? I can live with that, my wife's only complaining about the popcorn running out.

Here's a presentation Helmut held at a pro vinyl production conference last year, showing an early dev version of SL. It highlights several interesting pro use-cases and concepts. Not all, though, as the pickup models weren't really ready back then:

Some people are so insufferable. Maybe it's the holidays though, I've read there is a Holiday Depression psychiatric condition around this time of the year.
Anyways the GS thread for this product doesn't have this negativity in it. Has actual mastering engineers involved in it too, if anyone is interested.
I'm just sad to see a valued member of the community announce a new product on the site, and then have a few key people dump on him over it. Put yourself in Fabien's shoes, so to speak. Why would you bother to announce here in the future, when you can expect to have to deal with such insufferable nitpicking? He and his team have put a ton of work on this project and you're stepping all over it.
Be more gracious in the future. This could be a learning lesson.

What are you talking about, you are the one who posted this KVR thread on GS yourself. GS wouldnt be talking about this thread if you didn't post it there. Bizarre. And they very quickly told you to stop, which makes sense. GS is a better place for your niche product because there are more likely to be people working with vinyl there. Post here and you are going to a mix of responses, good and bad, because there is a mix of audio users here. You must already know that. You are using this forum as a place to freely advertise. In exchange you get to hear from all of your users and customers. Sorry that this feedback is not positive. Learn to deal with it, including learning to move on from posts and people you disagree with if you don't want the conversation to continue.FabienTDR wrote: Mon Dec 12, 2022 9:12 pm I came across two threads on forums/social media already making fun of this iconic KVR thread, it's about to turn into a meme. That's a really nice use-case of the tool. Thanks. The DW video will be interesting too.FabienTDR wrote: Mon Dec 12, 2022 9:32 pm Here's a presentation Helmut held at a pro vinyl production conference last year, showing an early dev version of SL. @plexuss
Audialab had no clue that I would create such a thread like I did.
I did my own thing 100% - I doubt they even saw the original posting.
Since most people have no sense of humour I even took away all the AI-pics and my parody of another drum machine plugin developer etc.
So there was no marketing tactic in attempting to be unique - it's was all me and my kind of vibe.
Which reminds me, Emergent Drums just got a pre-release updated to 1.5 with a new model - Creamy - realistic high definition drum samples!
*sounds amazing!*
I have to cook up some funky demos using Creamy and post them in the thread this coming weekend.
On a side note Tokyo Dawn Records/Labs does indeed make superb stuff and this new one is truly unique. I didn't want to hijack the thread about environmental issues but mostly make fun of the fact that a plugin that cost $199 where the money earned then goes to buying luxury villas at the beach is the exact opposite of Tokyo Dawn Records/Labs, but maybe I got a bit carried away.
But we all at least got to see a chinese horse-robot thanks to this!
Waaah? On top of that there are many annoying marketing tactics in play in an attempt to also be unique (eg. Techivation, Audialab).

Negative comments towards a product, even if it is not a qualitative comment, is also an information. There is a reason why people talk negative. And since they are customers and pay money this information plays a role.

Read. My. Post. I didn't refer to you or your post at all. I referred to Audialab. I am not sure why you think I was referring to you when I brought up Audialab. Specifically, I was commenting on their annoying onging email campaign. You guys are way too sensitive!Yadrichik_Chaya wrote: Mon Dec 12, 2022 9:53 pm @plexussWaaah?On top of that there are many annoying marketing tactics in play in an attempt to also be unique (eg. Plexuss being Plexuss again I see. Time to put him once again on the ignore list for a year or so.
The amount of absolute useless garbage that man types all over these forums is mind boggling.
@Fabien TDR
Congratulations on the release! This is some absolutely fascinating piece of work!
