Vojtech. It's time for MDaw.

I think we can agree that a plugin wrapper would be one thing. They ability to combine plugins and features is another. But a Daw?
You already love Reaper....so....just improve Reaper? You are the most talented programmer in the scene. Just my $.02
Let's us help you add features. We could be apart of the mixrevolution you have dreamed up. I feel like a ton of people would love to contribute dev time. I mean , you see what your community creates in their spare time?

Would be a terrible business decision. The market is already oversaturated with highly matured and established options and it would require an intense amount of investment and resources to make something that could compare. People are also very attached to their daws, unlike plugins where people collect them like Pokémon.
So, please no.

Maybe I'm projecting here but I feel like Melda is just catching their stride. Fewer bugs, unified experience across titles, well-regarded sample libraries, quality modular effects, etc. As a customer, I'm pretty content - and that's saying something!

Maybe better idea would be MSequencer ? I mean something like MSoundFactory (or MXXX) where you can insert many different "sequencer devices" to produce midi notes (and CC messages)
Devices like HY-Plugins, Scaler 2, InstaComposer, UVI Sequencers or even Loomer Architect etc. In this way, we would have a full environment produced by Vojtech, which in a sense would "replace" the need for a new daw. Everything would then be consistent and uniform in operation.

Thank you. I forgot about that - I mean "midi out"Hexspa wrote: Fri Dec 16, 2022 2:58 pm mdrummer has a pretty decent sequencer already and it has midi out.

I'd say no. I for one wouldn't switch from Bitwig to any other DAW. I'm just starting to get an handle on the 1 001 features in Bitwig, I won't start at 0 all over again, even if Vojtech made the DAW.
And then the latest release of the DAW I use for mixing, Harrison's Mixbus32C, starts incorporating clips and scenes like Bitwig does. This will become some kind of an unified experience in both creation and mixing. Not looking at all to throw all that away for a new DAW of any kind. Moreover that is native Linux at that.

Are you sure? Isn't the market oversaturated with everything? Isn't the only reason for Melda being still in the game their originality? Projects like MMixRevolution or MDAW could be developed in the background, if only Melda would hire more Devs.
But as long as Vojtech stays the only Dev, I agree.... better to invest the time in the developement of MSF, MD and new tools.

Didn't Vojtech try to hire someone a while ago? Working at Melda seems pretty intense, though.Tyrs wrote: Fri Dec 16, 2022 7:02 pm But as long as Vojtech stays the only Dev, I agree.... better to invest the time in the developement of MSF, MD and new tools.

Support for a replacement plugin format is too much to ask but a complete DAW will work. And as melda plugins are known to be super comfortable to use, it'll surely gain traction
On a more serious note, I remember him writing about why MXXX will never host any 3rd party plugins as it's enough headache to implement in his opinion. Vetting a DAW is on a complete different level...

Exactly. He then replied, he couldn't find anyone to meet the expectations I think. Maybe it would be a good way to hire two or three devs to do the basic stuff and to let them grow within the MWorld. This would allow Melda to bring those huge projects forward and to grow themselves.

Exactly. Building a DAW is not developing MXXX to be able to host Third Party Plugins, it's a different level, as you start it from scratch. Finally it might be easier to build a standalone host (DAW) than to extend existing functionalities (MXXX). But for sure it's a hell of an effort and not possible for a one man dev team. For the DAW topic it might be worth to start even a subco.MirkoVanHauten wrote: Fri Dec 16, 2022 7:11 pm On a more serious note, I remember him writing about why MXXX will never host any 3rd party plugins as it's enough headache to implement in his opinion. With the expectations he has, that's not surprising.Tyrs wrote: Fri Dec 16, 2022 7:42 pmExactly. He then replied, he couldn't find anyone to meet the expectations I think.
Stuff like the custom GUI designer would probably have been something that could have been done by another developer. I'm sure there's enough simpler stuff to do to keep at least one less skilled developer busy.Tyrs wrote: Fri Dec 16, 2022 7:42 pm Maybe it would be a good way to hire two or three devs to do the basic stuff and to let them grow within the MWorld.
