Small but needed feature request

Latency Sum...

I wish that the sum of all the latecies introduced by Traction and its filters could be displayed somewhere and ideally, Tracktion would give users the option of automatically adjusting for these introduced latencies during recording. (after recording clips would be automatically advanced to compensate for the latency of audio device + the total latency introduced by all filters)

The problem is that recording overdubs while using latency introducing filters like SIR, overdubs are out of sync. New tracks should remain in sync with what you are hearing while recording...

I probably didn't word this well, I hope it is understood. And this may have been asked for a million times but it's my turn.

Unless I mis-understand you, it already does: except when monitoring through non-realtime plugs like SIR

(implementing PDC in this situation means inventing time travel.. possibly a version 3 feature? )

Your best bet is to use a different reverb while recording, and switch to SIR for the mix..

I don't need the effects like SIR to be applied to the recording track (e-to-e) but when they are present in other tracks or used as master effects I would like the option to automatically adjust for them.

Well, you can't! Unless you go back to the future ofcourse (it is physically impossible)

Try to render the SIR to a seperate track and mute it, then you solved the issue and saved up some CPU power.

automatic delay compensation works by measuring delay introduced by the plugins and delaying other tracks by the same amount, no need for time travel...

you *do* need time travel if you want to hear the effect live, which is what COOkie is saying.

Yeah, SIR has a built in delay for live work which makes it only good for mixing.

There are convolusion reverbs out there that have zero latency, cant remember which ones though.

a latency free version of SIR is under development as well.

The latency free convolvers usually eat CPU cycles like they are going out of style though, so I doubt my crappy 2100xp will be getting much mileage with one.

As I said before don't need to hear effects applied to the track I am recording, I don't even need to hear the unaffected input. I need Tracktion to tell me home many ms to compensate or push automatically push the recorded track forward that amount after recording is done... I do need to hear the previously recorded tracks so I can play/sing along. I do need a way to get all the tracks in sync.
