The 'close the gap' function is not what I want since it literally deletes parts from other tracks by the margin that i set for this track. i want it to work on this track only

Moving clips is always tricky. If your clips extend to the nearest beat, they're no trouble. But when you trim out silence or noise, you can be left with a bunch of slices that are difficult to move or copy.

So what I often do is grab a new clip (the red icon in the upper right of your display) and drag it over those slices. Stretch the clip to cover a bunch of slices...verse, chorus, bridge, etc. Make sure as much as possible your stretched clip starts and stops on beats. Then select the slices and that clip, right-click and select merge. You create a new clip that you more easily drag and drop where you need it.

If you want to pull those original slices out later, do NOT use merge, but Group them with an empty clip that starts on a beat.
Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and even Deezer, whatever the hell Deezer is.

In the Snap button, if you right click, you will see a useful option "snap clips to other clips". I always have it activated when I activate Snap

thank you for the replies
i found a band aid, since there's no automated way to do it:

since all clips are one one track, i basically use the "move clips earlier to the end of the previous clip" in the move option, and to speed things up I use alt > right arrow/left arrow to select the immediate clip next to my currently selected clip. so its basically a keyboard spam.

i'd probably use autohotkey to automate that on larger projects
