All right, this is all from me this time.

Without too much work, this plugin is kind of fun to listen to, suitable for some sort of video game music. Nonetheless, the plugin does not accept being interrupted to return to Cakewalk at all well on my computer.

Perhaps this piece sounding so annoyingly much like itself can excuse it if it ever sounds like anything else.

3 instances of Wave Manuel

Airwindows ClipOnly2 [Not actually in recorded version]

+ Cakewalk Stock Plugins:
Sonitus Multiband Compressor x1
Sonitus Compressor x1

Prochannel:
Eqs x4
Console C x1

The elaborate melody I started writing this month will have to be finished some other time.

By the way, elaborating on my difficulty:

Bug: supposing I am playing the track and have the plugin open, whenever I try to close the plugin or pause playback while the plugin is open, Cakewalk stops accepting input and needs to be forcibly turned off, or otherwise crashes.

This might have to do with my own personal setup.
(As a confounding factor: at some point, I started having difficulties with getting Cakewalk to use a suitable sound driver, which is a problem I have with Cakewalk every now and then anyway. I can't even tell most of the time whether it's a bug or my fault...)

Here is my submission.

First of all I wish you a merry christmas or god jul or whatever is the reason for you to celebrate :)

My song has been arranged in Reaper with 27 tracks. 7 of them are for the drums. The kick drum alone uses 3 instances because of layering.

In the end it was very difficult for me to make this song. When I changed parameters within the synthesizer plugin it crashed somethimes my entire DAW. Some sounds had strange volume distribution. Higher frequencies often were too loud and I had to use compression and limiting quite intense. Also loading this project takes way longer than other songs. I can watch loading every single track.

Nevertheless it worked in the end.

PS: I did a little bit of tonal balance and re-uploaded under the same name on 28th of Dec.
PSS: I used only standard plugins from Reaper for EQ, compression, a little bit of saturation and limiting to get the final -14 LUFS-I, like most streaming platforms demand it.

Here is my submission. I skipped drums altogether and went for a kind of orchestral vibe with arpeggios on piano/tuned percussion sounds backing up the melodies played on several monophonic brass/woodwind sounds. Also added a pad to fill out the background. I like this template quite a lot and think I'll return to it. I am working on an EP at the moment (made up of reworked OSC songs actually) so I didn't have the time or energy to work enough on this to let the themes fulfill their potential. My OSC submissions often end up being quite simplified, completing a full song in a month is hard for me. Still, I like this version, and I feel I have constrained the sound palette more than previous OSC:s which makes it more pleasing to listen to. Hope you'll like it as well!

Sound generation:
Wave Manuel, 11 instances
Also all reverb is from Wave Manuel.

Mixing:
Elysia niveau filter, 4 instances
TDR VOS SlickEQ, 7 instances
TDR Molotok compressor, 8 instances

Mastering
Ignite Amps PTEq-X EQ, 1 instance
TDR Kotelnikov compressor, 1 instance
Sonic Anomaly Unlimited limiter, 1 instance

Produced in Reaper.

Here's my submission - made with 34 instances (a fair bit of which is layering). Loosely inspired by my general wonder of physics, hence the title "Gravity Waves".

Additional effects include (sorry for long list, still working out what I like best in each scenario! so some duplicate functions):
- OTT (Xfer Records)
- TB_Barricade (Toneboosters)
- TB_Reverb_v3 (Toneboosters)
- ReaEQ (Cockos)
- Room Reverb (ElephantDPSP)
- Wider (Polyverse)
- MAutopan (Melda)
- kHs Gate (Kilohearts)
- kHs Trance Gate (Kilohearts)
- kHs Transient Shaper (Kilohearts)
- kHs Delay (Kilohearts)
- Fresh Air (Slate Digital)
- Space Lite (Cymatics)
- Diablo Lite (Cymatics)
- Dragonfly Plate Reverb (Michael Willis)
- Tonelib-BassDrive (ToneLib)
- Saturation Knob (Softube)
- JS: AutoWideness
- IVGI2 (Klanghelm)

Edit: Removed slight frequency modulation accidentally inserted via Valhalla (updated plugins above).

Not sure if a frequency shifter is an allowed effect? :?: May depend on how much of the effect changes the sound from the synth? The same argument is made for using reverbs with modulations (ideally the modulation section of these is not used).

Not wanting to be a "downer", :? but you may need to check, and I am sure others more experienced than I will be able to chip in. Nice track btw ... :tu:

plenty of time to find a non-freq shifter reverb fx ( also remember chorus, phasers and flanging type fx are really no-no's in the OSC context)

Nope, Bode Style Frequency Shifters as well as Pitch Shifters or any combined fx including any of them afaik are not allowed ... if I add a tiny shift in the fb loop of an delay/reverb but then set fb to max the overall effect is beyond what the synth can do. Not allowed.

Yeah, I believe that falls under the general prohibition against effects that pitch the sound. Whereas the rules provide an exception for reverbs and delays which use modulation effects internally (so long at the modulation is minimal), there is no such exception for pitch shifting.

I don’t think I used any of the frequency shifting aspects of Valhalla supermassive/freqecho, but I will check. Risers and other stuff was done via automation of a LPF. Or just some pretty significant EQing to get sounds of drums.

Edit: re-read and made more sense. Thanks for the feedback - in all likelihood I may have accidentally used one with Supermassive as I didn’t tune the settings much, so will definitely do a proper review.

I may be wrong, but using subtle modulation on a verb, delay and even a chorus is allowed to add space/width. It's when the effect overtakes and BECOMES the sound that is not allowed. As Peter said, full feedback is eventually going to do that. The nature of a freq echo or a shimmer verb is too pitchshift based. SuperMassive can be subtle or too extreme. I don't think it's default patch is out of line unless the feedback and wet are cranked......despite it's name, it really good at short ambient spaces too. Wave Manuel's built in verb is good at these as well
Just a touch of EQ and a tickle of compression

I think you're right on reverb and delay, but not chorus. Chorus is mentioned three times, once to say it's permitted if it's built in to the synth, and twice under what is not allowed for (external) effects:
  • Chorus, flanger, phaser, rotary, or related modular effects.
  • Any type of modulation effect (e.g. chorus, phaser, flanger, rotary etc.). (Please note that effects like reverb or delays that perform modulation to achieve their sound are ALLOWED, but the modulation usage must be minimal.)
I don't read that as allowing chorus if used subtly to add space or width, though I do think such usage might otherwise be reasonable. Aside: the apparent redundancy here has always puzzled me.

After visiting the oracle, Yep, looks like you're correct about the chorus. All I was thinking when mentioning chorus was some added transparent stereo space, not outer space swirly whirly hurly furly 80's power ballad, dag nabbit hehe! :D Subtle Dimension D type, not Juno.
