Forgive me, but I have been using Studio One Pro since the release of v3, upgrade religiously on release, and I feel like I have been warped into some alternate universe, because I know nothing of this?
Since version 4, the frequency of the paid upgrades is pretty much 2 years: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Studio_On ... se_history
yes I am well aware of that, that is what I am saying, it certainly isn't 1 or 2 a year as you posted.

My bad. Didn't mean 1 or 2 upgrades a year, rather a paid upgrade every one or two years.

Post

Still your bad.

Paid upgrades are at least two years apart, with versions 3 and 4 each coming after three year gaps.

Cubase is every year, more or less, just for clarity
I wonder what happens if I press this button...

Yes, because of that infamous paid .5 upgrades.

Yep, although you can normally buy in the summer sale at 50% off. And point upgrades are usually cheaper than full number updates.

Something else to consider, physical items have increased dramatically in price in the last year, who's to say software won't follow suit.

I got the Studio One Professional upgrade from Thomann (it has increased by £2 to £111 in the last week), from any Professional to 6 Professional, I needed Pipeline and a render that worked, S13 wasn't rendering offline for me.

I was looking at studio desk at the beginning to mid 2022 at £266, it's now £299. Just like other items, a Behringer Studio M monitor controller was £49, now £61. Might software follow these increases?

Pure speculation, but a possibility.

chk071 wrote: Tue Dec 27, 2022 8:19 pm The upgrade price is definitely a joke. 80 € would be about right for me, and might even lead to me buying versions I don't really "need" for their added features, but are rather "nice to haves".
Based on your concerns the probably best feature of v6 is the customization of the UI. If you think the DAW is bloated, then just disable the unwanted features. The more I think of it, the more this becomes my favorite new feature.

On a somewhat related sidebar, I wonder how many folks would purchase the discounted license of Cockos Reaper for $60 when they probably should purchase a commercial license for $225 instead.

Probably not as many as those who just keep using the 'Demo' version indefinitely :uhuhuh:

I'd suggest that's mostly to do with the value of your local currency, rather than any real increase in prices, as those items are all from an overseas source. Therefore it will almost certainly increase software prices, too.

Have you used it? It seems to be project-based, so you have to re-customise it every time you load a new song, which I find more annoying than useful. If it's not actually project based, then it must be broken because I had to keep turning the same things off, over and over. I've given up now so I just leave it however it is. Honestly, though, the improvement is so minor it probably wasn't worth worrying about in the first place.

No I have not. Still on v5 here and trying to justify an upgrade. So far I have only watched some videos and browsed a little in the manual. If your experiences are universal, then indeed the feature seems to be oddly implemented. In the Presonus forum is remarkably low traffic on v6. I remember there used to be more vivid discussion around new releases (not only regarding bugs). But with v6 it has become a bit quiet. Either people had more time during COVID lockdowns in the past years, or chk071 is right and the market is saturated and nobody needs more bells and whistles.

The market is quite saturated yes. Therefor I presume some companies resort to forcing more parasitic forms of product sales.

V6 apart from the lyric feature is just catching up to Cubase. Nothing really new. For me it doesnt seem as a mandatory update. Also their not so pleasant interaction with those who didnt go Sphere (were not that exciting anymore supposedly) is also a potential factor.

Regardsing their forums (and facebook groups) - It was (and maybe still is havent been around lately) a very hostile place to be if you try to discuss something that doesnt appease the local "acolytes" :D

naaah, you must be thinking about the Cakewalk (CbB) forums.

Frankly, with a certain attitude, every place is hostile. ;)

Of course, people like their "shit" and act like zealous soccer fans a lot of times. But, if I browse a company forum, I surely don't do it to criticize the software, or the zealous fellowship. If you do that, you will have a hard time, always. Obviously.

Presonus forums are OK, Cakewalk forums are OK, as are Steinberg and Native Instruments forums. I never really sensed much or more hostility than somewhere else really.

If you want to experience zealous hostility, then criticze u-he's products on these forums. Oh boi. Urs surely knows how to build a devout fellowship, that's for sure.
