They are currently working on vst3 versions and Apple silicon stuff : https://www.soundtoys.com/m1-capability/

With vst3 they could easily implement resizing. Curious to see what they'll do.

I'm 55 and my eyesight is not what it used to be. I demoed some of their stuff, I squinted and moved towards the screen more than a few times to read it and decided it wasn't worth it to demo any further. Kinda sucks because their stuff sounded great, but there are plenty of other companies that work with my old man eyes.

Old news. They already released the beta, bundled with a native version of iLok Manager.

But does it have resizing ?

Soundtoys have been semi-abandonware for about 15 years now

Yeah, at times it certainly seems that way at times. They have a very odd flow with their development. Between ST4 and 5 there was a long time of nothing. Then 5 came with the unexpected rack and lots of new modules.

Now it seems we're back to periods of semi-silence again. I just wish they could add the reverb to the rack - that would be so damn perfect.

In the last 15 years they've supported every OS update, every architecture change, released new products, are working on VST3 and another OS and architecture change at the moment (and possibly other things).

What is the definition of "semi-abandonware"? Not releasing enough upgrades to satisfy people on forums?

Probably not something that one should take too much value in but in their latest newsletter one could read the following:
Even if you already own the full Soundtoys bundle, you can still participate by purchasing a Gift Card. Gift it to someone who loves Soundtoys, or keep it for the next release!

Yeah seriously! This isn't abandonware (or even semi) by any means.

Do I want to see new Soundtoys plugins with new GUI's, that are also resizable, with an expanded Rack that has modulation capabilities and parallel paths, along with built-in oversampling? Heck yeah! But that doesn't make Soundtoys abandonware. They fix bugs and support current OS's and hardware.

Note: if there wasn't an M1 beta out, I may have been more inclined to agree. :hihi:

So VST3 was released a couple of months ago but can anyone confirm if the plugins can be resized?

It is probably time to look at specific sooundtoys alternatives that scale. It would be a good thread for discussion. There is no need to put up with guis that don’t scale if you really want that feature. There are so many excellent developers out there.

The VST3 format does not automagically make a plugin resizable, the code needs to be updated. If a plugin uses vector graphics, it should be trivial. If a plugin uses raster graphics, as Soundtoys do, it can be a heavy lift.

If the original codebase has lots of business logic directly woven into the UI code, which is sadly common practice in C++, and you need to make significant changes to a complex UI, you might as well make a new plugin.

I can confirm that they are NOT resizable and it makes them almost impossible for me to use on my 4K monitor with my crappy eyesight.

Post

I wish they would make them resizable, of course

But in the meantime, and on a Mac (which I guess many of the 4/5 K folks are using), Cmmd + scroll zooms the whole screen for me, so I can use my titchy plugins easily enough before going back to regular screen res.
