"[MRecorder] added retrospective recording, which if enabled, records
automatically in background, even if normal recording is OFF or paused."
What would be the use case for 'retrospective recording' when regular recording is not going on ?
Cheers.

The use case is when you are fooling around and play something great but did not hit record in your daw. This recorder can keep running in the background. Some people use it to experiment with variations.mevla wrote: Sat Dec 31, 2022 5:00 pm What would be the use case for 'retrospective recording' when regular recording is not going on ?
The good feature is that you can adjust the buffer from 1-60 min.
The missing feature is it does not record a MIDI file, as other DAW-based recorders do.
It's quite a big omission, but probably easily fixed.

I get what you mean, but the plugin had nothing to do with MIDI in the first place, saying it's a "big omission" is a bit random - it's an audio recorder that now has a retrospective feature, not a retrospective plugin that's that's missing MIDI features. But maybe I'm reading text wrong, apologies if I am.Michael L wrote: Sat Dec 31, 2022 5:44 pm The use case is when you are fooling around and play something great but did not hit record in your daw. You are quite fairly comparing the new and old MRecorder.
OTOH I am comparing the new MRecorder with other retrospective recorders.
That comparison is also my #1 feature request for Melda!

Thanks for the comments. This is indeed a zone where intuition happens, outside of metronomes, grids, bpm and other considerations. Many times it happened that a good idea was thusly expressed and by the time it takes to set up a track and replay it, it became not the same, not as enthralling as it was a few moments ago.
I'll give MRecorder a try. And yes, supporting MIDI would be great.
Cheers.
