Getting back to this: Only the VST3 version for Linux is unusable, VST2 works. By default Bitwig prefers VST3, but one can simply delete the VST3 from the installation and keep only the VST2. And after that it's still a really nice synth, warts and all...Stiller wrote: Fri Jun 17, 2022 9:11 pm I have trouble starting F.'em in Bitwig 4.2.5 on Linux (Debian Bookworm), it starts only after I push the "Restart plugin" button a couple of times (sometimes 3, sometimes 20). How can I make it work?
The error message according to Bitwig: "Could not read async reply: end of stream"
After I have pressed the restart button often enough (3-20 times), everything seems to work. But starting one instance of F.'em can crash another one.
The synth seems really nice, but this is not really usable, sorry.

Odd, had to give this a try as well (on Fedora 37). f.em works with vst3 in Renoise, it doesn't in Reaper (not even listed although seen during the scan). Reaper lists it under "failed to scan". I don't have Bitwig, so I cannot try it.

The vst2 technically loads in on Reaper but it then lags the whole host to the point of being completely unusable. I have been dealing with this for weeks and I have an assignment due with this plugin involved so I am getting very annoyed at this.

So I bought F'em from vstbuzz but was unable to activate the license on the www.tracktion.com website to my account. I wrote to both the support teams but no response yet.
Has anyone else faced these types of code redemption issues in the past? What was the resolution?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks in advance!, but I'm aware of that url and tried through it multiple times before posting here. Their system has some issue, but the support team did respond to my ticket and added the license to my account.

I have the same problem so I just use the VST2 also. By the way, there is an option in the Bitwig settings menu to "prefer VST3 over VST2". Just disable that option and both plugins will show up in the browser.Stiller wrote: Sun Jan 01, 2023 9:39 pmGetting back to this: Only the VST3 version for Linux is unusable, VST2 works. F'em is on a giant sale right now. I wasn't thinking of getting it, but have read such great things about it. What do you all think of it? There are just so many granular and FM synths out there, I really hesitate even for $30.

Ah yeah I think it's just a global settingStiller wrote: Sun Jan 29, 2023 8:18 pm I know that option to prefer VST2 in general, for all plugins - but it seems like there is no way to set this per plugin, right?
