The fact it was the suppossed TassMan substitute remains. It is not. Where's the round sound from that old gem???

Hmmm, I paid $39 bucks, but I also got upgrades on Chromaphone and UltraAnalog. So, badically, a really cheap upgrade with a free toy inside the box!
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

it's a super vanilla modular. they should've made modules for VCVrack instead... even basic reaktor blocks are a thousand times more fun/capable than this thing.

I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

They might expand it to where it someday gets close to what Tassman was.
IMO, their 'signature sound' can still be found in some of their other stuff from the Modeling collection.
There's some pretty stiff competition in the virtual modular world though.

all the more reason they should make some of those physical modeling bits for vcv-rack and charge $30 for a collection or whatever. the tassman fx modules.. resonators and what not were really interesting.

I feel confident Multiphonics will continue to develop and grow into a beast beyond Tassman, which was a sweet instrument back then.

why? have they added more modules to it since it was released? i haven't been paying attention. it's been out a couple years right?

They've updated and I read news about upcoming modules. Mostly, I base my confidence in the fact that AAS is a solid company. I hope my optimism is proven correct. ;-)

Totally impossible, but very pleasant wishful thinking!
Tassman developer Stephane Tassart left AAS long ago to join Blackmagic.
Multiphonics has almost nothing in common with Tassman, it's entirely different.

Yeah, Michael, you make a good point. I don't expect Multiphonics to be like Tassman . . . that's gone, goodbye. But I do expect it to fill the modular hole swimmingly. I've liked it since it's v1.0 release, and I don't find it "vanilla" after I chocolate it up. I'm not claiming that this will be the desert island soft synth, but I'm happy to have it.

That seems more realistic.
I've had false hopes based on emails from AAS management, but no more!

Current approximate price of vanilla beans is about $11 per ounce. Chocolate beans are closer to $3 per ounce.
Just sayin'

I'd be happy if it had as many good-sounding modules as Tassman. I was torn between laughing hysterically and crying my eyes out when I got their 64-bit update for Tassman arrived and they had just written their own 32-bit to 64-bit wrapper! :dog:

It's a frustrating product.
If it had ANY audio in, you could patch Chromaphone etc to approximate Tassman.
It has only one input-- for midi-- but none of the module parameters communicate with the DAW so you can't midi-control or automate!
So close but so very far . . .
