Harmor has only been out for 11 years.Boy Wonder wrote: Mon Jan 09, 2023 10:35 am After all these years, I was finally able to get a 32bit version of Harmor working in Cubase 12. And yep, just as I remembered, it's as complex now as it was 15 years ago. IOW, manual time.
So what’s the big gorilla of additive synths now?

I thought Image Line were getting out of making synth plugins? (Maybe I may have read that wrong)HunterKiller wrote: Mon Jan 09, 2023 3:19 pmHarmor has only been out for 11 years.Boy Wonder wrote: Mon Jan 09, 2023 10:35 am After all these years, I was finally able to get a 32bit version of Harmor working in Cubase 12. The IL plugins were originally discontinued as VSTs, but apparently there was a change of heart. Scott posted on KVR a while back that the VSTs will return, but there's no date as to when. Bear in mind there are a lot of IL plugins that presumably all need to be ported to VST3 and the latest Mac OS (and by the time that's done, they probably won't work on whatever Apple have decided is the new flavour of the month).
As for the question as to how long they will continue working on Windows... I don't have any plugins that have stopped working on Windows. There's a few ancient SynthEdit plugins that don't bridge that well (insane CPU consumption), but they still load. What's a lot more likely is that the company producing the plugin goes bust and you can't authenticate the plugin any more - something that now also applies to Image-Line btw. The regkey authorisation has gone the way of the dodo and it's now all C/R instead

There was not even one plugin of IL, that ever worked reliably or at all on Mac (personal experience…).

Blame Apple. That's a Mac problem, not a IL problem. It doesn't affect just IL plug-ins. It affects A LOT of plug-ins, especially when Apple launches a new OS (which is EVERY YEAR).Tj Shredder wrote: Wed Jan 11, 2023 9:20 am There was not even one plugin of IL, that ever worked reliably or at all on Mac (personal experience…).

Yeah... I waited a long time for a reliable Mac version of Harmor. Never happened. I finally gave up.Tj Shredder wrote: Wed Jan 11, 2023 9:20 am There was not even one plugin of IL, that ever worked reliably or at all on Mac (personal experience…).

Looking forward to Sumu! Madrona always makes stuff with high quality sound so there is a chance this could be a rather unique new synth!Tj Shredder wrote: Wed Jan 11, 2023 10:50 pm The biggest Gorilla could be Sumu from Madronalabs btw... Hopefully soon...

It's not just an additive synth: it will have FM synthesis and a Polymoog-inspired filter!pdxindy wrote: Thu Jan 12, 2023 12:44 amLooking forward to Sumu! I'm actually surprised Madrona Labs gets mentioned relatively frequently on KVR. I would've thought their stuff was too esoteric and left field to be taken seriously. I guess not.

Not at all. Its serious stuff. on topic: i just played around with Loom II on my friends system. So far i really like it. I might buy it for dollars even though it's abandoned. What else is similar? I have Cube and Alchemy v1. I've also used Harmor on that same system, i didn't have a lot of time but i was majorly impressed. That was a few years ago... now i can't even buy it as a vst anyway...
