like the band split in TDR Limiter No6 clipper?
I meant it cannot be easily nulled by others when it comes to multiband :D
The functionality itself is not only-one as you said. KClip3 also has multiband support.

that may just be down to the choice of bandsplit filter they use if it's not a straight linkwitz-riley.

Otherwise, imo GClip behaves better for all other settings. It has an actual variable soft-knee (no amplitude or slope discontinuities), whereas Inflator always has a hard clip at 0 dB unless Effect=100.
This setting doesn't null at all (only ~10dB drop). The only setting that nulls is Inflator Effect 0% and GClip Softness 0%, and even that stops nulling after 6dB. With Inflator Effect control set to just 1%, that setting stops nulling, including when I compensate for the change in output level.

I will upload files later. I made some already but they exceeded KVR attachment size limit.

GClip sounds really good at moderate settings and I appreciate the Oversampling and the Softness control. If someone wants to hear audible distortion that effects a wider range of dynamics (meaning not just transient peaks), it's a really cool option.

Drop Inflator's input by 6 dB and they'll null.

Thanks, I’ll try. As said, they null with input gain up to 6dB when Inflator Effect is at 0%, and still almost null after that. Are you sure this isn’t the setting you’re thinking of?

It's not, I promise.

Also keep in mind null tests can be a little misleading since it takes such a tiny difference in signal level to register a failure.

Even a 0.01 dB difference between A and B will show up as -59 dB in the null test.

I found the same thing, but Inflator and GClip probably calculate their input gain slightly differently. If instead of the internal gain controls, you boost the gain before it hits the plugins, they'll null beyond +6 dB.

Thanks. I'll try all that.

This worked. Your settings with Inflator input reduced 6dB also worked at all but the most extreme settings, which I would never use Inflator for, anyway.

With that said, they stopped nulling the moment I touch the Curve control. For me, Curve is and always has been the control on Inflator I use the most. If you're only using or evaluating Inflator with Curve at one setting, I believe you're missing out on what makes the plugin special.

Did you finish the ISM Aroma preset you were working on?

Post

I have not. Emulating the Aroma flavours was simple but never exact. I paused work after requesting apShaper features on the apulSoft forum. As you know, the power of Aroma is to blend the four flavours to taste.

Anyone else find Inflator to reduce sound quality? I thought it would be a steal for its holiday pricing, but when i demo'd it i found there to be a "grainy-ness" that set the fidelity back a few decades

Here is a comparison between the Native Inflator (pink) versus the Hyperbola Inflator (salmon).

You need to lower the Effect or Input Gain. There shouldn’t be audible distortion.

It might also be a good Idea to run your Project at a higher samplerate using Inflator, since it doesnt oversample at all.
