Sometimes, the render option on top of the midi clip does not render the MIDI into audio. instead, it just copies the MIDI clip and pastes it where I take my pointer.
Am I doing something wrong? Because majority of time, it works properly.

In pretty much any DAW--not just Waveform--I recommend putting yourself in full control of rendering MIDI, and not trusting the DAW to do it for me.

This is just me. But here's how I do it:

1. Create a new track.
2. Change its input to receive the output of the MIDI track you have.
3. Optionally, you can set the input/output markers to render just the clip you have.
4. Arm the new track to record.
5. Start recording, letting the MIDI in the first track fully record audio to the second track. This way, you're guaranteed to get what you hear, without any reverb tails being lopped off, delays cut shorts, etc. It also prevents a lot of issues with passing MIDI through plugins.
6. Save or delete the MIDI track and work with the audio as a stem.

I do this quite often, and it's problem-free because it takes so many variables out of the equation. Might not be the answer you wanted, but it's a safety catch for almost every situation. Plus, you still have the original MIDI if you need to make a change later.
Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and even Deezer, whatever the hell Deezer is.
