Is it possible to activate the green on/off switch in automation or some other way?
Example: trigger an effect at measure X so that the effect starts there (or stop) and not before.

Would be handy to be able to drag n drop a switch onto a track to allow it to toggle the switch.

Although toggling during recording is not something I've tried, perhaps that is one way?

It's a good idea, so simple that I didn't think of it even if it's a little violent :)

It's not possible to automate the power on/off of a module. However it's possible to automate the input and/or output level of an effect by inserting an amp module before/after the effect and automate that amp's gain.

Thank you for the answer.
I must have missed something because if I put a gate (for example) at the output of a track and the amp behind it, the right click on the amp does not allow me to assign an automation to it.
So I have to open another track with the effect followed by the amp and there I can put an automation.
Problem: the sound volume automation acts on the whole chain and not only on the effect.
So if I set the effect volume to zero at bar 1 and turn the effect volume up, say at bar 4, the whole volume is muted also at bar 1 and does not go up. only at bar 4.

To automate an internal parameter, open the module editor and drag-drop the parameter name/value onto a (new) track. If a parameter does not have a name/value display then right-click the parameter and use "Drag Parameter".

Note that if you would drop it onto an existing track then it must be a track that already targets that module. In other words a track that targets module X cannot hold parameter automations for module Y.

So in fact, there are quite simply some plugins that you cannot modify entirely by automation because their design does not allow it.
I was able to achieve the desired result using another plugin that allows it.
The "mix" button adjusts the amount of desired effect.

Yes you can, see this video:

Yes, but in the case of video, it acts on an existing knob. In the case of the vst which illustrated my original point (neon gate), there is no knob which acts on the volume but only on the attack, the release and the "quantity" of gate. It is therefore logical that MuLab cannot act on the volume of this vst.
So I could search in vain for a solution to the problem.

If you delve into the modular side of MuLab, you'll see that you can add anything anywhere, pretty much.

I'll have to check tomorrow if I get time, but I'm sure I made a MuX with tone2's firebird and added a balance type module to it. Allowing this on off behaviour. Not sure what I did now as it was years ago. Firebird isn't 64bit, so I don't use it anymore.

What this means, is that once in a blank MuX, you can add a vst and any modules to control that vst output sound.

Thanks for the help. I admit that I tried a little to take a look at modular but for lack of time and as a simple Sunday musician and perfect noob in computer science, I didn't understand much.
I saw the tutorials which did not enlighten me much more.
It would be nice if MuTools could make some more explainer videos for dummies because what seems obvious to most of you seems to me to be written in Chinese (respect to our Chinese friends).
So, I gladly believe that we can do almost anything with the Mux, but that's beyond me.
I don't have much time and I'd like to spend that time making music and not fiddling with programs.
