Precisely. If it can't be faster to work with or achieve better results, there is no point in having it. That's why I uninstalled it last night. At this point in time I am looking for things that inspire me and last night and this morning are perfect examples of what doesn't and what does. Last night I feel like I wasted 45 minutes or so with MiniFreak, whereas this morning I loaded an instance of Concept 2, for the first time in a very long time, and almost made myself miss the bus to work because I was getting so many great sounds from it. I think I saved out half-a-dozen new patches (based on factory presets) in less than an hour.
Well, I don't mean anlogish agressive (like in Korg Odyssey for example) but like digital agressive (Massive and others).
I don't understand the difference. To me, aggressive is big and brash and punchy and fast. It can just as easily be digital or analogue. After playing around with it. I don't feel that MiniFreak is capable of big and brash and punchy and fast at all. What it does is more in the realm of ugly sounds that to me are mostly unmusical.
Well, I see that the loudness was important factor in your decision!
I think it was a factor in the initial poor impression I got of it but after I noticed last night, I turned it up so it was on par with everything else.

Demoed it a couple of times and liked the sounds it can make. It really lacks a bit on the low end, but that's not what I'm going to use it for. I have plenty of plugins for that.
Although it can do bass, too. There are plenty of plugins available to push it into that region (Overstayer M-A-S comes to mind)

Sure but there are plenty of plugins that can do bass and do what MF can, too, do so why bother with it at all?

Think of all the stuff you've rejected after loudly extolling its virtues. Think of the plugins you said were "stupid" (I'm being polite) such as virtual classic synths with skeumorphic interfaces and then you go and buy Arturia V9 collection. You praised some of the collection and now tell us you've abandoned it altogether. Look at the pages and paragraphs you dedicated to Uno and then the Uno Pro and now you've relegated it to controller status. Is it safe to assume you are now using your once vaunted Model Skulpt as a paperweight? If so more power to you and to us. Everyone is fishing for inspiration and solutions. Including you, Bones. You're as bananas as the rest of us.

I can't think of any "virtual classic synths with skeumorphic (sic) interfaces" that I've branded as "stupid". I may have said that people who choose them because of those features are stupid, but the instruments themselves maybe amazing for all I know. Obsession, bx_oberhausen and RePro-1 certainly are but not because they are trying to sound like some shitful piece of gear from the 1970s or because they have GUIs with skeuomorphic design.

I never praised anything in the Arturia Collection for the simple reason I have never installed anything from it, nor have I ever listened to any demos of it. All I really know about it is what I've read here and what I've gleaned from a bit of playing around with Analog Lab and a couple of demos (SEM and Buchla Easel) 5 or 6 years ago. But they were selling it really cheap and I thought "better to buy it now for bugger-all and never use it than to discover something worthwhile about it later and wish I'd got it when it was cheap". Trust me, I've wasted much larger sums of money an even more useless things. There will come a point where I have time to install the Collection and spend some time with it, it just isn't a priority right now.

I'm also pretty sure I bought V8, just before V9 came out, so you didn't even get the version number right. You've also got it wrong with Uno Pro as it's been hooked up to the audio system for the last several weeks and I've been marveling at just how good it sounds. Sadly, however, it still suffers from all those limitations of hardware, so it's not going to replace any of my softsynths.

I'll also tell you how f**king awesome Ultranova is, even though I haven't switched it on in 5 or 6 years and I probably never will again. It's sort of the same with Analog Keys - I think it's a damned fine synth but I still haven't switched it on in a several years. Just because it's good, doesn't mean I have to use it. I keep all those things around for playing live. As we haven't had a gig since before the Pandemic, I've had no use for them. At least I was able to find a use for Uno Pro. It's not as convenient as the Lightpad Blocks it replaced but I was keen to get it back into the set-up if I could, so I found a way.

All that said, I change my mind about things all the time. Pigments is a great example - I was reading some thread the other day where I had been defending it quite vigorously, which seemed really weird to me because I stopped using it ages ago. But when I read my old posts, I'd said nothing about the sound quality, which is the main reason I stopped using it, so there wasn't really any inconsistency there.

My attitude towards it changed when I was presented with new evidence - once I started trying to use it in songs, I found it didn't really measure up to the other synths I use regularly. After that, none of the things I liked about it, the things I'd been defending previously, made up for its fundamental sound quality not being where I needed it to be. So I changed my mind about it. Learning and growing is a pretty important process in our lives.

I got to spend 20 minutes with the plugin. Fell pretty flat for me at first getting off the presets by just throwing knobs and changing filters brought out a decent amount of bass. Distortion and bitcrusher brought out a decent amount of bite. I don't know how any of this works I have everything from Arturia and I've been slowly working through it. I'll probably buy it, it's totally unnecessary but I quite like the built in sequencer it will make experimenting be a more cohesive experience. I like most the presentation which isn't unique but presents a lot of information that I only really get it if I see represented visually so it's great for a dummy like me.

So is saying what you think - and then moving on - rather than hanging around beating a dead horse ;)

And apparently hasn't learned and grown into knowing you dont have to be a dick 95% of your life. I have no problem with strong opinions but they don't require being a jag to deliver them.

There is a definition between having a strong opinion and believing everything you know to be the only truth.
