Currently automation for MIDI controllers or parameter events can only be discrete values and are drawn with a pencil. It would be nice to have an option here to define Multi Point Envelopes instead of the discrete values if desired. This allows more precision and flexible editing.
Internally the curves could still be converted to discrete values!

There indeed are 2 differents ways to do automation: The main method is to use automation envelope parts, then other method is to draw (discrete) automation events in the sequence editor. You're right that there should be a way to easily convert between them and/or be able to have multi-point envs inside the sequence editor. That's all on the wishlist.
