Constructed Identity wrote: Sat Jan 21, 2023 2:47 am My new interface arrived today. It's great and all, but now I have figure out what do with it.

I had my screen on a metal monitor stand before with the old interface underneath it and now its legs will not quite reach around the Furman and the new interface.
Is there a desktop mini rack thing I can get to house these and then put my screen on top?
Any suggestions? :help:
One of the short 2-unit or 4-unit 19" rack cabinets on this page might be the sort of thing you're looking for?

.
And for that same price, be sure to check out etsy for options. Lots to choose from if you’re searching for a 2U rack, but all seem to hover around the same price.
Also, if your budget is tight, you're handy with tools, and you have enough spare time, you might be able to make a simple rack cabinet yourself and save some money.

I know some folks don't like it when I say it, but it's really quite easy to make wooden boxes.
Surprisingly enjoyable as well imo.

These ones would be easy too. No angles.

Just plan it out, have them cut the lumber for you at the hardware store, buy a couple $2 corner clamps and glue it together. Wood glue works amazingly well, if done right, the wood will not break at the bond. The unboned adjacent wood would break first.

Yes, and the box doesn't even have a back or front panel. It's a pretty simple construction project. :tu:

I made myself a nice little angled stand for my Push 2 using triple-walled craft cardboard, wooden dowels (as cross beams, to improve rigidity) and brown packing tape. I've made custom stuff before using timber, but depending on your living space and whether or not you own (or have access to) the right tools, it can be quite challenging. Cardboard is easy to obtain and to work with; no power tools required and if you get good quality raw materials and are smart with your design, it is surprisingly sturdy!

Make this priority imo. If you need to sit down a lot a good chair makes it so much easier.

There are some companies in the UK that do refurbished office chairs.
i.e. https://corporatespec.com/
:o have you seen some of the prices???
a grand and a half for a refurbished chair at discount :o
i may need to save up longer than i thought

Amazing that they made 31 of those monstrosities. A shame because the piano black cabinet is quite nice without the garish panel.

Got a decent chair from here for about £160

the actual chair I got was this one…
https://lockwoodhume.co.uk/products/sen ... 6d62&_ss=r
…but my priority was I’d put on weight and my old chair sank sadly when I sat on it :)

Doubt you’d have that issue.

Are you safe?

If Saddam Hussein and his sons were still alive, that would account for at least three of them.

Maybe some Russian Oligarchs bought a few of them in a money laundering scheme, possibly also involving Donald Trump in the transactions?

Maybe Elton John and Lady Gaga bought a couple? They seem to like flashy things.

Personally, I don't think they look bad, and if someone wants to give me one, I'd be happy to have it. :D To me, what's tacky about them is the huge amount of money that could have been better spent on instruments that perform equally well at a fraction of the cost.

I'd actually prefer to have a Gleeman Pentaphonic Clear. Coincidentally, there were also only about 30 of those ever made. I saw one in person, on the sales floor of a music store I used to work in as a synth repair tech. I'm sure the Pentaphonic Clear cost a bit more than the basic black models, but it would have been nothing insanely priced like the gold-plated Moog in that link. At the time, I thought the clear model looked really cool. I had no idea then, how rare it would prove to be.
