I personally like serum cause of its interface and workflow. I am probably biased though as I learnt synthesis on it and the visual nature of it made deconstructing patches in the styles I liked a lot easier.

I agree it could do with another filter and although I am unsure if it is feasible it would be great if the env/lfo's in the serum fx plugin could impact the fx (would this work with an audio trigger). A sequencer/arp would also be great instead of having to draw in lfo.

I will give it a go regardless seeing as it will be free for serum owners.

I hope that Serum 2 is not going to end in a „Massive X debacle“. It seems to be easier to add featuresin evolutionary steps (as Pigments or Falcon), than bring the next step with a big bang with the risk that many expectations, which condensed into that end in disappointment.

Beside some missing features like 2nd (and better sounding) filter, sample and granular handling, arpeggiator, 2nd Fx lane, Serum is near to perfect in terms of GUI and handling to me. All attempts to make this more modern (I hate especially these gray-in-gray flat designs, where all widgets look like a text on the gray background as in Pigments 4 or Shaperbox 3 now) could end in making it just worse.

But of course I am also amazed, because this will be the biggest (most observed) plugin synth update incident since Massive X (though this kind of failed) and beside Zebra 3 (will it still happen in this decade?)

I think Massive X did loose some basic features that Massive had. Maybe Serum2 will learn the mistakes made with Massive X?

It`s a super-stable workhorse for today's sound design, and you can basically create any sounds you need for current or new genres & trends. Sure some other tools offer now more as Serum does (e.g. Pigments) but it`s easy to use, decent on CPU compared to others and sounds great - you should definitively try the demo.

I trust Steve. He's not going "Massive X" for a simple reason: The mind that created Serum in the first place will be the same, and more enhanced mind, than the first time around.

Also hope that there will be some kind of cross-grade plan

With the still-popular trend of releasing percussive/glitch/mangling sequencer fx units like Shaperbox, Sequent, TugGlicento, Looperator, Texture, Supermodal, etc., I wouldn't be surprised if Serum 2 had a full-fledged section like Thorn's, along with a gate sequencer, arp/sequencer, and granulizer engine.

Were you thinking crossgrade plan from other xfer products or from serum? Steve has said previously that Serum2 will be free for serum owners.

That would be good. Thorn has a unique glitch sequencer.
