Spectral De-noise doesn’t take any effort to learn and works brilliantly. Did you try it?
iZotope RX is not the only game in town (Alternatives list)

As much as I don't like iZotope, there's nothing that compares to RX in terms of a single comprehensive program that does what it does and that well. Those NR and De-rumble/De-plosive/De-wind algos are fast and incredibly effective. I hope that Acon gets there one day. I'd love to have a viable alternative to RX, but there's not yet.

I use three: RX, Acoustica, and Audacity. They each have their strengths. RX can be too intelligent/slick for its own good, sometimes I just need dumb old pitch shifting or silence cropping and that's when I turn to Audacity.

Yep of course, I know how to use Spectral De-Noise. I just don't find it much better than Brusfri : for complex tasks (with different noise profiles for the same file) it's better, but it's also much more complicated to use and it's destructive, so very often I use Brusfri directly into my daw and in 5mn works done...

Highlight the noise, click Learn, and then lower the threshold so it only effects the noise. I read the manual about all the extra settings when I was setting it up the first time but I haven’t touched those settings in years.Calagan wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2023 6:06 am Yep of course, I know how to use Spectral De-Noise. I’m so happy to hear that my so unprofessionally compiled list helped some of you. Thank you for the feedback.
Meanwhile I made some tiny corrections and now I hope that the list is more comprehensive.

I'd like to know if anyone has found any spectral editor plugins that offer a good clone (not Spectralayers or RX)

This is one of those truly gobsmacking moments in audio, a huge leap forward. It also shows just how far behind the curve iZotope has fallen.
Adobe Podcast is in Beta, and part of it is an Enhance Speech algorithm. Skip to about 3m15s for the demo:

And Pro Tools Expert have their own tests here - https://www.pro-tools-expert.com/produc ... t-any-good
You can try this yourself for free (for now). Just upload an MP3 or WAV here - https://podcast.adobe.com/enhance#

No thanks. Adobe is a cancer

Beware! The software discussed in this topic has unacceptable aliasing at -386dBTP but it can be fixed by changing the sample rate to 12Bit

Yeah yeah.
The point is what they are doing is leagues ahead of iZotope. All their serious development stopped a couple of versions ago.
For anyone not ideologically opposed, it's just rescued two projects for me. For free. It's absolutely astonishing - one of them was a phone contributor. It hasn't quite made them sound like they're in a booth with a U87, but it's closer than it has any right to be. Only limitations are an hour's worth of material at a time and no file bigger than 1GB.
