Indeed they are, comrade. I especially like this part of the rules:

Thought crimes (section from FL Studio forum rules, captured 2023-01-28).png

I also applaud Minitrue for its excellence in rectifying.

We added audio tracks, and introduced it in a higher value product - Producer Edition. We designated the current older version's feature set as - Fruity Edition.

The cost to upgrade was $39, also hardly a lot of money.

People were welcome to stick with Fruityloops > Fruity Edition and pay nothing extra to this day.

We also introduced Signature and All Plugins Editions. Similar idea - more features for more money.

We sleep pretty well at night looking at all the free stuff we have given our customers in the last 25 years. Every Edition, including Fruity has gained new features ( Automation Clips for example ) and many new plugins.

Scott (COO).
So in other words, owners of Fruity Loops were told that they had 'Lifetime free updates'. You then made a 'higher value product' (i.e. the original Fruity Loops with some UPDATES - i.e. audio recording, if I remember correctly), and renamed it 'FL Studio'.
You "designated the current older version's feature set as - Fruity Edition". That wasn't what owners of Fruity Loops signed up for, when they signed up for 'Lifetime Free Updates'. There was only ONE Fruity Loops in existence, wasn't there? So no reason whatsoever for owners of Fruity Loops to think that there would be a 'higher value product' introduced that wasn't Fruity Loops, which they would have to PAY for, to get the UPDATES, was there?

Just look at all the free updates that FL Studio has had since you renamed it - sorry - created it. Those were all defined as 'free updates', and everybody was happy.

So I stand by everything I originally said - and I'm a happy user of FL Studio, by the way! Just that the way you worded it, Scott, obviously fooled everybody here. I've explained why it wasn't right to do this to original Fruity Loops owners - they bought Fruity Loops with no idea that there would ever be a 'new' piece of software that they had to pay extra for, to get what was clearly an UPDATE to Fruity Loops. Would you care to show us a screenshot of Fruity Loops, and the first version of FL Studio, so we can how 'different' they look? (LOL)

Why are you acting like a total knob over a minor thing that may or may not have happened 20 years ago?

you‘re right on that one!
you can keep hailing IL - I will not...
I am for sure far away hailing them and I am sometimes far more aggressive than I want to when speaking about things of my concerns... they can surely tell you...

But fair has to stay fair... truth has to stay truth... and the truth is that often when I read attacks against them I wonder how they can stay so calm...
I guess, if I would be the responsible person for this forum I would have banned 100 times more people at least temporarily for violating the rules (including me sometimes) than actually happened...
