Nice track. When I read your comment, I wondered if your track complies with this month's rules. I think it is about working with a synthesizer that has been distributed with a DAW and it seems that this condition is not met in your case. It's Any One DAW Synth, not Any One Synth.

Edit:

Info:
Pick your favorite DAW synth and go absolutely wild on it! You must use the DAW and the synth it comes with. Examples would be Ableton's Operator, or Reaper's ReaSynth.

Hmmm. I didn't notice that. Well if the boss says it won't do then I'll withdraw it. Mind you, being somewhat tongue-in-cheek, my setup is used in a hardware 'DAW' of sorts that in the most recent versions also includes an arpeggiator, Rosegarden and Audacity. It's one I build based on a Raspberry PI and have sold to a number of musician friends .

It wasn't me! (well, actually, it probably was) - apparently now an 'elderly' so maybe I forgot!

Resubmitting!

Went to work on the original, and didn't revisit the thread, realizing that 3rd parties were now allowed.

I felt the original was missing high end that I usually get from my usual chain, so I added it.

Logic ES2 Instances: 48.

Plugins used:
Logic X: Channel EQ, Space D, Stereo Delay, Comp, Gain, DeEss2
Commercial: UAD: 1176 LN, Distressor, Neve 33609C, Fairchild 670, Ampex 102*, SHMC*, Pultec; VUMTdeluxe, Lindell 80 Channel, Lindell 80 Bus*, VSC-2, S1 Imager, SPL IRON*, OTT*, FF Pro L2*, ADPTR MetricAB*.

*indicates on Mastering chain only.

My entry: psmacmur - Dawstopia Now (Mojito)

https://soundcloud.com/peter-macmurchy/ ... now-mojito

Every now and then, mostly in the winter, I miss OSC. And here I find the current challenge is a DAW synth, with commercial plugz allowed. Years ago I'd thought to myself, Mojito would be a fun OSC synth. I never went for it during the Any Synth challenges, though, because it's one of those obnoxious mono synths with a free-running oscillator and LFO. It also lacks a noise osc, so percs are particularly pernicious. These days, however, I don't have patience for flagship synths, so it was time.

Specs:
DAW: Studio One 3.5.6
DAW Synth: Mojito x26
DAW FX:
Compressor x1
Limiter x1
Multi Instrument x5
Pro EQ x15
Redlight District x1
Scope x1

FX:
Brainworx bx_limiter x3
Brainworks bx_subfilter x2
TAL Reverb 4 x2
Waves Abbey Road TG Mastering Live Stereo x1
Waves H-Comp x1
Waves OneKnob Louder x2
Waves SuperTap x1
Voxengo Stereo Touch x4
Voxengo Tube Amp x1

Here is my (new) submission for the challenge. Originally I've submitted a piece using Cakewalk and TTS-1, and then realized it probably/likely/surprisingly breaks the rules of the challenge.

So, one download later (Tracktion's Waveform 12, surprisingly decent), and many hours with 4OSC (Waveform's native synth, 4 additive oscilators, very basic, no FM, but it has noise) - I can now participate

https://soundcloud.com/pomerus/puma17-t ... st-osc-167

As a noob to sound design, percussions were still a challenge. stock patches were OK, and with some extra manipulation produced some nice vibrations

DAW: Waveform 12 Free
14 instances of 4OSC
Effects used:
Built-in EQ, limiter, compressor
Melda MEqulizer
Fire (destortion, compressor)
A1TriggerGate
Deelay
Crack (envelope)

My entry The Utopia Anomaly

https://soundcloud.com/slugnest/the-uto ... al_sharing

DAW & Synth: SunVox
Instances - hard to say. It's just a stand alone modular synth. It doesn't have tracks like a normal DAW.
All effects were part of the modular synth. No other effects used.

Here is mine. It was a bit of a chore on multiple levels, but it's genre might be an OSC first. I used Reason Intro 11 and Europa. Had to Combinator the hell out of things due to the 16 track limit, but it was a ton of fun once the guitars started coming to life. Track info will be updated once I figure it out....it's a mess of new-to-me stuff. All sounds from init, as they should be around here. Horns up! \m/..\m/

DAW Reason Intro 11
DAW synth Europa (31 insatnces)
DAW utilities: Combinator, Mix Channel, Mixer 14:2
DAW FX: MClass Equalizer, MClass Compressor, MClass Maximizer, Audiomatic, RV7000mk2, Scream 4 (distortion section Off, EQ and Reso sections On), Softube Amp (amp section Off, cab section On)
3rd party: OTT, Townhouse, VintageVerb, Shadow Hills, CraveEQ, MSpectralDynamics, BX Masterdesk

My submission for 167 -- Synth is Alchemy in Logic Pro X. All sounds from init only using the provided waveforms - no samples.
Around 40 instances - I used the Plugin Alliance AMEK9099 channel strip a lot, and a bunch of other PA and Waves compressors, reverbs, EQ's.

Here is my submission to this month's challenge.

I started using Bitwig a few months ago and thought this challenge was perfect for learning one of the built-in synths. I chose the Polymer, but without digging into the grid.

All sounds are made to fit my entry and my taste of sounds.

The track are made using 29 instances of Polymer with Bitwigs effects and some instances of

Voxengo Oldskoolverb
Valhalla Supermassive
Kilohearts Delay
Kilohearts Distortion
Kilohearts Dual Delay
Kilohearts Limiter
Klanghelm IVGI2

This is my final sumbission for January. Since Reaper does not have a real synth I used the JSX ReaRack scripts. It is a collection of scripts that make a modular synthesizer possible, so you can e.g. connect generators for the envelope with the amplifier but also with the filter and in Reaper you can modulate EVERY parameter anyway. Since there are sound oscillators but also a noise generator, I was able to create plucks, leads, drums, FX and pads with it.

The song uses 18 instances for instruments plus 9 tracks for drum instruments. Sometimes I had to use 3 instances for only one instrument to play a chord, because there is no polyphony.

In addition to that I used Reapers' EQ, compressor, limiter and a loudness meter.
