Yeah, a habit that kind of started accidentally. In 2016 I started a recording-per-week project, where I would post my track and write a little bit about it. So I took notes about what I was using so I'd have something to say.
It kind of turned into a way to track what gear was getting used and what wasn't... mostly useless trivia but occasionally insightful. I've sold stuff based on realizing how rarely I touched it, talked myself out of buying some gear based on figuring I'd drop it once the novelty wore off, and rediscovered a few things.
I mostly stopped a couple of years ago, because I figured I was giving the gear too much of the responsibility/credit/blame for my sound. But for a couple of projects (the no-input feedback thing from December, then Jamuary) I went ahead and took the notes. I probably won't stay in the habit though.
