Edit crashing and backups won't restore.

:help: I spent about 80 hours on my first studio production. All I had left was to re do the baseline and some backup vox. Everything saved just fine, but when I tried to work on it the next day it said the file was corrupt. Everytime I try to restore the backup it opens for a second and then crashes the audio engine and references the same plugin and sometimes it adds a random one as well. Anyway to get in there and delete that plugin so I don't have to start all over?

The Edit files should be XML. (I think this does not apply to the version in memory so a crashed Edit might not be XML.) There are definitely PLUGIN start end end tags. I am guessing that you can remove those chunks.

NOTE: Backup backup backup before editing Edits.

EDIT: I just created an edit and added a single plugin per track. Closed the edit and opened it in a text editor. I deleted one plugin. Re-opened the Edit in Waveform and the plugin was gone. Seems to work. Your mileage may vary.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

Have you tried loading the plugins in sandbox mode?

@vul is right to load with sandbox mode, and get rid of problematic plugins.

So the edit won't stay open long enough to do anything. I had sandboxing enabled already. I'm wondering if I jist Uninstaller the plugin if that would do it. And I have autosave and auto backup tuemrned on. But even when I load the backup it crashes immediately upon opening.

Try, in settings make sure 'run audio engine when stopped' is off. That has bought me time to deal with a troublesome plugin before. If you get in, select a track, hit control 'A' and disable all plugins in the bottom panel. Bit of a long shot but worth a try.
