It can happen, but you can always add a new track by pressing +, or in the track menu.

I added a "plus" button below the tracks to add an instrument track, so this area will always be displayed:

I'm observing a case where the new track area (where one would right-click to add a new track)

Presumably this should never happen (?).

Given that it has, how can I get it back?

Please note the circles contain notes, not chords. The triangles contain chords, built from the 3 notes at the vertices. You can add or remove notes by highlighting more circles.

Regarding the Tonnetz -

When I click in a triangle area, the symbol that I clicked on appears as a chord in the Master Track, as expected.

However, when I click on a circle, the chord that appears in the MT does not match the symbol in the circle.

Future Feature Suggestion: 'Save TImeline Selection as Composition'

Since I'm constantly thinking of compositions in terms of sections (aligned with the Part concept in RC), it is natural to me to want to save, create a library of, and reload same.

Currently we would have to manually and carefully delete everything other than the area of interest to recast a section as-if it were the full composition. It would be great to just say "save it!".

That much would get us to being able to manage our own section library via the file system, which would be not at all bad, but even better might be if RC's browser ultimately gained a Part capability to complement all the other types (Phr Rhy Scl Chd ...) currently supported.

Also, 'Export TImeline Selection as .Wav File' would be the same idea applied to audio, allowing us to generate clips for further use anywhere.

I think it would be nice if we could assign keyboard shortcuts to the Jump buttons, to get that exact same functionality via the computer keyboard.

Hi,

I may be trying to do something impossible, or maybe I just don't understand how to do it.

Scenario:

A Master Track with chords exists.
I have recorded a phrase of melody.
Using the Idea Tool, I want to generate a chord(s) in harmony with the melody, then regenerate other existing tracks to match with that chord(s), all the while leaving the melody itself as-is.

I thought this would do it:

but it seems not.

What I observe is

a) if the Melody Track has it's lightbulb off, the chord will not regenerate/change

b) if the Melody Track has it's lightbulb on, the chord will regenerate/change and the Melody will be deleted

I'm not sure if I've got a feature request, found a bug, or need instruction!

BTW the Tonnetz displays major and minor triads using a different color (the one that is set under Settings / User Interface for major and minor triads) in the next update:

Yes, you can add a MIDI CC to a track too, in the Track Inspector. It is possible to display a slider in the track, or have an automation track.

It should work, but at the moment there is an embarrassing issue with sending CC's to plug-ins. This is being fixed. But from the next beta version, yes, this will work well.

No, I am afraid this is not possible.

Right now fixing bugs is the most important, but saving the timeline selection is implemented in the new beta version. In about 15 minutes...

RapidComposer v4.6b9 is available!

Bugs for sending 14-bit MIDI CC's to plug-ins have been found and fixed in this update.

Improvements:

• Tonnetz visual improvements
• "Save composition (selection only)" added
• Fixed sending 14-bit MIDI CC's to plug-ins
• Fixed: setting the 'track' MIDI CC sliders could crash the program
• Fixed: some settings were in the wrong section in the Miscellaneous list
