I can hear it's out of place, sounds similar to the "note repeat" or "flam" effect. What's your listening environment - headphones or loudspeakers?hope4ever wrote: Wed Feb 08, 2023 12:29 am I would be very interested if you and your users can hear this fart like out of place and not placed in my project by me noise at..

No problem, it may still be a product of my paranoid schizophrenia.
Please can we leave this up for a while to see if others can hear the problem parts in the two different linked soundcloud links. If they do I hope they can describe them better than I have.
The Double Beat artifact sounds a bit like a blown speaker and is like one beat 1/32 or 1/16 long?, it sounds louder than almost all other parts playing at the same time except maybe the percusion that plays all the way through on the off beat (half way through 2 kick drum beats), sorry i am not sure what that percussion is called, its in Mulab All Drums. The double Beat artifact appears 4x and sounds roughly the same eac time.
The Bouncing (Mix 4) artifact sounds like a wet fart to me that goes "bluurt da" it has a slightly longer duration than the Double Beat artifact. But it appears only once in the song.
Thanks for your help so far.

I am not sure what note repeat or flam effect sounds like I may have to look it up. It definately sounds out of place.
Interestingly I am quite sure that the first midi clip that plays in the first part of song for around 8 seconds has no artifact, its the next midi clip that plays for another 8 seconds that has the artifact. Both clips have the higher notes left in. I believe the 2nd clip is the original complete with more lower frequency notes left in. The first clip is the same clip with some lower frequecy notes taken out. there are 6 lower notes in the first clip and 9 in the 2nd clip. they are all around the same note range, i do not see how 3 notes diferent would be enouh to cause the artififact. I did a lot of tinkering and troubleshooting on this but could not resolve it. The first clip has a 4 beat loop, the 2nd has a 16 beat length no loop. But I do not think that makes a diference I believe I made the 2nd clip longer just to try and solve the problem but it didn't.
I only listen via closed back headphones, an earlier version of Sony ZX310 On-Ear Headphones, they are cheap. I do not have speakers or a stereo to play my music. I turn the music up as loud as it will allow in Windows and on my android tablet. Both with these headphones plugged in. With both Windows and android I hear the artifacts. I have not experienced anything quite like this before if it is non real sound I am hearing, though I have heard voices in my music before that some is probably not there and others cannot hear. But never phantom instrument sounds.

If you use a recorded audio sequence as a Sample and have no time stretching active it may sound rhythmically different depending of the played note. To investigate the issue, set your song tempo to 25% of the actual speed and isolate each instrument (solo) one by one till you find the one causing the problem.

Both bassline sounds in the song are samples from a sample cd, I believe they are 16bit quality.robert_p wrote: Wed Feb 08, 2023 2:28 am If you use a recorded audio sequence as a Sample and have no time stretching active it may sound rhythmically different depending of the played note. The samples are both one shot sounds.
One is a 0 second sample, like a split of a second long. This is not the sample the problem midi clip is using.
Second is a nearly 2 second sample. This is the sample the problem midi clip is using.
Both are loaded into Mulab within MuSampla Rack's I "guess" with default settings for MuSampla. This project is originally made in 2019, with me extending it in 2023.
I do not know if Mulab 7.4.8 had time stretching back then but either way I have never used it in my projects ever before, unless it gets turned on by default. I do not know whether MuSampla Rack has time stretching for the sample you load in.
Neither bass sound sample has a sequence of notes in it, they are one shot / one hit / one note played, it ends and there are no more.
I do understand what you said about different notes played in the piano roll for this bass sound sample in musampla rack may cause a problem if it hit a bad part of the sample from where it starts playing. Interesting point and you could be onto something.
Only one of the bassline instruments (tracks) is playing at the time of the problem midi clip. Only other instrument track playing is Mulab All Drums which has two parts playing a kick drum and a percussion I do not know the name of.
I need to sleep soon, I will investigate when I wake.
Thanks for your problem solving.

Maybe it has to do with the system? I recently started using my brother's laptop and I too hear farting when it gets too loud, in the entire OS though, not just in Mulab. Sounds overflow distortion-like.
Or it could it be CPU running out of power?

Good point, at max volume strange things can happen, even the headphone drivers can start farting. I would try to reduce the volume first.humanboeing wrote: Wed Feb 08, 2023 11:31 am Maybe it has to do with the system? P.S. Closed back headphones have stronger natural resonance at certain frequencies - that was one of the reasons I got rid of my Beyerdynamic - I use AKG 702 and 701 now (I still got my Audio Technica closed back just in case;)
P.S.2 I wouldn't expect much of Sony MDR-ZX310 - I just read the trusted review:
"Unfortunately, while not absolutely huge, the bass is not well controlled. It may not cause nasty low-frequency resonance when simply dealing with voices, but give the Sony MDR-ZX310 a bass drum and it will dominate – the bass is quite muddy. You’ll notice this much more if you’re sitting in a quiet room listening, rather than out in town or at the gym, though. A bit of unruly bass is much less of an issue if you’re looking for a full out-and-about pair."

Hi Mutools I have just emailed you a video of my screen made with CyberLink Screen Recorder 3. As requested. I was able to record my screen after setting in Mulab the audio driver to MME and audio type as speakers, CyberLink screen recorder 3 had no problem with the pause button not working and i was able to stop recording too.
I apologise but that is all I can do for tonight.
Thanks for your input everyone else.
I did note that even my laptop speakers (they are low quality speakers) can hear the fart artifact sounds.

I'm sorry but i can't spend more time on this. Atm i don't see enough evidence there is an issue with MuLab. I need to continue the other works on MuLab. Hope u understand. Feel free to share the video here.

I would have liked to know if you see an issue that is not with Mulab, but no worries.mutools wrote: Thu Feb 09, 2023 2:11 am I'm sorry but i can't spend more time on this. I know you are a lone dev on Mulab and you do all the tech support yourself as well, which must be very time consuming. I do understand fully. Thank you for at least looking at the problem I posted.
I will not post the video here that I sent you, just because it contains my best midi clip (with notes) to date.
Wish you all the best Mutools, p.s. I do love Mulab, you have done a great job with it.
/Case closed.
