This is typical forum antics. MIDI jitter was a conversation for a while, that's about it. I don't use Cubase, I haven't heard anyone since jitter was addressed 20 years ago complain about DP and Logic other DAWs etc.Trancit wrote: Sun Feb 12, 2023 10:42 am A good example to demonstrate how silly many people are...
People were whining 20+ years about their wonky DAW timing and even nowadays Cubase isn´t able to trigger a synth from a Midi VST without timing issues... but that´s professional!
The error is called a straw man, you've set up multiple ones. That MIDI was/is deeply flawed, that somehow that makes not having it better, that you didn't set up the argument in the first place by all of this.If somebody goes a different way which improves timing by a factor of minimum 100 but it isn´t suitable for some niche applications... that´s a toy!

I have no issues at all with FL, I personally like step sequencers, you did this whole thing of overblowing jitter concerns with MIDI 20 years ago because FL chose to go another way. My original post wasn't intended to knock FL, just to point out that FL's lack of MIDI (not to mention audio recording) is what set it up for people to act like it's a toy. Jazz, classical and other more "pro" musicians are super defensive and will make fun of electronic music, bleeps and bloops etc. IMO it's not good to reverse that and act like other DAWs are wonky etc. it's just unnecessary partisanship.
Yes, people will write in what they're comfortable in, it doesn't make it a good choice to, but in the end it doesn't matter if the music is good.Btw... I am always again amazed and surprised how many people are writing their orchestral stuff in FLS which I personally consider as masochistic...
Nonetheless it seems to work...so it seems there is no need for Logic, DP and Cubase for such a task...
That was never my argument. You set up straw men because people were having fun pointing out FL stands for Fruity Loops, you acted like other DAWs were flawed in order to combat this I guess? I don't get it really, I don't give a rats ass what traditional musicians think of the tools I use, and whether it's a toy etc. if I enjoy using it.Second...taken your argument something like Ableton and Bitwig must be considered as well as toys as just a little amount of people are using it for "full orchestral scores"...
Again... find the error!
