Waveform Pro 12 - Bizarre undead MIDI playback

That does sound strange, but it's also not really clear. You're saying that a single track (with MIDI clips playing through a VST instrument) is playing even though the play head is not moving and the song is stopped?
Surely there must be consensus by now...

is it playing in the browser preview?

Hahaha) I understand you. I have so some synths go in cycles. I reproduced some segment, turned it off, and the synth continues to reproduce notes)) about WF12 it's time to add legends))beta male wrote: Wed Feb 01, 2023 12:35 am Never had this happen before today, but I have a project open, and it plays a particular MIDI track even though nothing is actually playing. Wtf?

What's the plugin that the MIDI is responding to?
Some samplers have the ability to continue to play a sample all the way to its end, which you can set for drum sounds and other one-hits. It might not be the MIDI that's continuing to play, but a sample.
Are you seeing any activity in the master bus output that indicates this sound is actually playing, from Waveform's point of view?

Ironically, it's G-Force M-Tron Pro, unlooped Mellotron samples. 8 seconds and that's it, the pubs are all shut lad.Watchful wrote: Wed Feb 01, 2023 5:41 pm What's the plugin that the MIDI is responding to?

To be clearer it's as if that track is solo-ed (it isn't) and the entire song is playing, looped, from start to finish. But the transport is stopped.

I am experiencing this same behaviour in W12 Pro. It's even occuring with 4OSC. Certain tracks keep playing even through the transport is stopped. Happens more often when the application is minimised or loses focus.

Exponent, does hitting the panic button make it stop? In Beta's case, the answer was no.
Even 21st Century software synths are plagued by the old MIDI curse of the stuck note. I have Waveform set to ctrl+p as a hotkey to trigger the panic button.

Yes the panic button solves it, also quickly playing and stopping transport solves this. But the fact that this occurs in the first place is quite annoying. I haven't faced stuck notes in Reaper using the similar synths as in W12.Watchful wrote: Sat Feb 18, 2023 3:39 am Exponent, does hitting the panic button make it stop? Understood...I have no idea what's causing your issues although I suspect it's something with that one plugin if it isn't happening with any others. I also suspect you're well ahead of me on that.beta male wrote: Sat Feb 18, 2023 11:18 am To be clear, my issue wasn't a stuck note. With the transport stopped, one particular track played from beginning to end on loop.![]()
The only thing I can liken it to is a sampler. Some samplers let you treat a sample as a drum sound, that plays they full sample no matter how long or short the note event. If a pad or other bit of audio is interpreted as a drum sound, it plays the whole thing no matter what you do.
I know that isn't the issue here, based on your description, but it is the first thing I think of. Your situation is quite odd. If you use the same plugin with the same sound in another project, does the situation repeat?
In Exponent's case, those are stuck notes, and happen frequently...even in hardware-to-hardware MIDI setups, and back in the DOS-based sequencer days. The NOTE OFF command is interrupted by a fast stop or a mute/solo action.

Here, in my opinion, this is not the first time about this problem. I read and thought, maybe some libraries are not installed by people, maybe something else. It happened to me, but it went away quickly. A few days ago I installed a new ms-2, everything was fine, and yesterday all day the same problem as described above. I was tired of killing time with this: testing, trying to repeat these bugs with other plugins, so I resigned myself to work further. Everything is fine today. These are not plugins, or most likely: both plugins and the impossibly buggy waveform. We really are guinea pigs.
