I'm interested in the FM-X aspect as well as support for TX81Z patches.Examigan wrote: Sat Feb 18, 2023 11:26 pm Nothing interesting? I don't think the others have all this:
You can choose from different emulation modes: HALion, FM-X, and DX7.
● In HALion mode, the oscillator works with continuous values, for maximum
precision.
● FM-X emulates the characteristics of Yamaha’s Montage synthesizers.
● DX7 emulates the characteristics of the Yamaha DX7 synthesizer

Maybe because I have already FM-X in my MODX. Even that I don't use it! I find software like FM8 and DX7 V, OPS7 or OPSix much easier and immediate than MODX. Actually, even a 4 OPs synth like Operator in Live is enough for meExamigan wrote: Sat Feb 18, 2023 11:26 pm Nothing interesting? I don't think the others have all this:

I'm even thinking of selling my MODX! But I would lose a lot, so maybe I keep it as a backup (my keylab mk ii is working again! In Windows only though!) as midi keyboard/controller and it is an excellent rompler (although I'm using now Triton software mostly for Piano, guitar, ...etc if needed).
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

For those who aren't in the Steinberg loop yet, if you go through all the sign up stuff,
you can download the free Sonic 7 player, and it has some content now, just to get your feet wet.

When did you purchase Halion?LoopyFruit wrote: Sat Feb 18, 2023 6:19 pm Hi Gang
I've just had a nice surprise, I didn't know I was entitled to a free Halion 7 with the Grace Period.
I've not purchased any new Steinberg products since Cubase 12, it may be worth a look in your Steinberg Vouchers Guys.
Good luck.

I tried to install Halion Sonic 7 on my Windows 7 machine, and got a message that it can't install on my OS. I would guess that would be the case for the full version as well. I've hade some newer programs install and work fine on my machine, but others either won't install, or won't run if they do install.BBFG# wrote: Sat Feb 18, 2023 8:08 amMaxim Korobov wrote: Sat Feb 18, 2023 7:41 am Hi guys.
I upgraded from Absolute 5 to Absolute 6.
Halion 6 content is 30.29GB, Halion 7 content is 30.32GB. What's the difference? It seems like some update in a field of FM-like patches not samples content.Maybe redownload the content file?HALion features wrote:More than 35 GB content, 3,700 presets and 15 instruments
In any event, it's on my buy list, but not until the next sale.
I do need to ask if anyone has installed this on their Win 7 system yet and if it's working as expected?

Gave it a go but can't seem to get a sound from it- all presents show as locked (and the free ones are installed).felis wrote: Sun Feb 19, 2023 12:38 pm For those who aren't in the Steinberg loop yet, if you go through all the sign up stuff,

That said, if I cant resize the main edit window (its about 6 inches by 4 inches on my 32 inch monitor) it will be a hard pass for me anyway! May as well be editing on a phone screen!
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Holy crap, it's almost 10 years since Halion 5 came out.
I loved the software itself and that hasn't changed but the included library in H5 was a bit meh for me, I always thought it sounded a bit thin. I would imagine the factory library has not changed at all since then. I like the new features though. If Halion had an extensive 3rd party library market like Kontakt I would be more interested in buying it again.

Yes, I think that's because Sonic 3 was the latest version (5 year old) before it moved to being HALion 7, whereas HALion 5 is a good 10 years old now. Really stupid numbering system they had previously.lotus2035 wrote: Sun Feb 19, 2023 3:48 pm Upgrade from Halion Sonic 3 seems to be cheaper than the upgrade from Halion 5?
Or am I missing something.![]()
But it's a bit crazy when you look at it as HALion 3,4 and 5 are all the same update price. H5 could probably do with a tier in-between those if they wanted some older users to update.

Nice idea! You can actually clone any synth with the recorder. If you use the same midi track to trigger halion recorder and source synth, it is like sample robot

For those looking for upgrade pricing earlier in the thread, it's £85/95 Euro/$102. Pricing includes 20% VAT.
