At Melda we have been working hard to make MTurboFilter feature complete by adding many creative modules and features. The time has come to start the design work to make filter presets. We invite you to join in on the action.
WHAT IS MTURBOFILTER?
MTF is a plugin and a module inside MSoundFactory.
It will contain presets that cover a wide range of filter types.
The plugin version features built-in modulation while the MSF module uses our per-voice modulation system.
THE GOAL.
We want to make a collection of filter algorithms of all different types. Standard, analog modelled, creative, distorting, vowel, multi-mode, morphing, resonating, LoFi, everything really. The most important thing is that they sound great!
WHAT IS IN IT FOR YOU?
That depends on how many filters you design and how good they are. For the most part, your contribution will bag you a free license for this amazing plugin. But if you are really great, and/or provide lots of presets, then we can discuss other options.
HOW TO MAKE THE PRESETS.
Similar to the algorithms in MTurboReverb, the filters for MTF will be created using the syntax editor. Please read through the help info there to get an understanding of what this thing is capable of (a LOT!). You will also find a few preset examples, showing a few things that are possible.
You can get very creative here as there are almost unlimited possibilities.
The filter algorithms are built using a combination of various filters and routings, and there are also some creative processors there such as distortion and dynamics. The 4 main controls, FREQUENCY, Q, CHARACTER and DRIVE should always be attached to at least one parameter so that they change the sound in some way. FREQUENCY and Q should mostly be controlling the expected frequency and resonance. DRIVE is attached by default to the dry/wet of distortions but can be overridden and mapped to other things if you wish. CHARACTER is completely free to use for creative things.
HOW TO SHARE THE PRESETS.
When it is time to show us your creations, please export them all as a single file using the export option in the preset browser. You can send them to me at jason@meldaproduction.com
