Let it be the JP8, then I its easy to fight GAS… But they will still make a hard to resist offer to complete my collection… Damnit… Noooo… (A cry with a long tail of a spring reverb)
Am I in a plot for a horror show…??? I see the synth zombies crawl out of an old old studio ruin…

Sines is additive and already has DX-style FM carrier and modulator architecture. So this wouldn't be their first digital synth.
If you plan on purchasing your first Universal Audio hardware, you can get a free additional plugin. Just send a PM.

It appears that Sines can cross the line a bit with multiple modes, but it can still be used as a standard subtractive synth.wangeroge wrote: Tue Feb 28, 2023 10:48 amSines is additive and already has DX-style FM carrier and modulator architecture. So this wouldn't be their first digital synth.
"Sines lends itself well to three more direct approaches to sound design: standard subtractive synthesis, where sine waves are wave-shaped into other familiar waveforms, then processed through an analog-style filter. Alternately, an additive synthesis approach stacks sine waves at different pitches and amplitudes, like a supercharged Hammond tonewheel organ. Finally, oscillators can modulate each other in multiple configurations, mimicking the classic DX-style FM carrier and modulator architecture with much less effort than original 80s instruments."

Yes, in the sense of analog/digital hybrid. But it still has analog filters...
"Dreamsynth draws its inspiration from renowned synths including the Ensoniq ESQ-1, the Kawai "K" series, and the Sequential Prophet VS. In the second half of the '80s, music production was rapidly transitioning from analog to digital. These "hybrid" synthesizers bridged the gap, combining the precision and flexibility of sampled digital oscillators with the warmth of analog filters. The combination of digital and analog sound produced instruments with character and a unique sonic fingerprint that still resonates today."

Not really ever stated, but since they are big collectors and lovers of vintage analog gear it seems important to them to make them available for folks that will never have the opportunity to play the originals. I just get the impression that they don't feel the same way about modern digital synths, based on interviews with their head designer when he says, "then along came the DX7 in 1983 which changed everything" ...vurt wrote: Tue Feb 28, 2023 3:06 pm ah ok, i thought it was digital

This is an enlightening interview with the Cherry Audio team as they discuss how they came up with their recent GX-80. Gives a bit of background on their process for emulating a synth in software, and in this case why they chose to merge the GX-1 with a CS-80...
