Don't forget Softube Model 72

Well to be fair to Gforce, this isn't "yet another minimoog emulation" -- it's a V2 update to one of the Very First minimoog emulations, ever. Which you know, of course, since you said you got it way back then. So a V2 is hardly "yet one more..."zerocrossing wrote: Tue Feb 28, 2023 8:38 pm I'll check it out when the servers cool down (really GForce? Get a better provider!) but I'm not super excited about yet another Minimoog emulation.
Hmmmm I guess it snuck in the last moment, I defo remember them sounding different...gentleclockdivider wrote: Tue Feb 28, 2023 6:32 pmThere is NO difference at all , it’s clearly a bug .
Yes, aliases at 8.
The whole point is to hear a difference when the resonance is cranked.Uncle E wrote: Wed Mar 01, 2023 1:57 am The filters sound different but it's subtle. You wouldn't hear it with the resonance cranked like that.
I hear it the most with Resonance at 5 or 6. Very pronounced then. At 7 or above, the resonance completely drowns out everything else. At 0, I can hear a difference but it's subtle.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Wed Mar 01, 2023 2:58 am The whole point is to hear a difference when the resonance is cranked.
But it is yet another Minimoog emulation. It was top of its class… but that was in the mid 2000s. That was a long time ago. Ancient in software years. Now they’ve been long bested, and I’m supposed to feel great about it because they’ve finished the marathon a month late?mholloway wrote: Tue Feb 28, 2023 10:07 pmWell to be fair to Gforce, this isn't "yet another minimoog emulation" -- it's a V2 update to one of the Very First minimoog emulations, ever. Them updating an old product to modern standards isn't nearly as yawn-inducing as all the companies that have released their iteration on the Minimoog in just the last couple years. Gforce have a fantastic new browser, and I'm very glad to see it added to Minimonsta, among other improvements. It just makes sense.
Die mad, I guess.zerocrossing wrote: Wed Mar 01, 2023 3:49 am But it is yet another Minimoog emulation. It was top of its class… but that was in the mid 2000s. That was a long time ago. I was right there when they released Oddity 2, because there wasn’t a good emulation. Same with impOSCar 2. Jumped on OB-E too, and it’s fantastic, but Minimonsta 2 is a solution to a problem that I don’t have. They’d have spent better development time working on a good ARP 2600 emulation.
The amazing modulation panels. It's the simplicity and immediacy of a Minimoog with the capabilities of a modular.mholloway wrote: Wed Mar 01, 2023 3:59 am They have an amazing new browser so they're updating their existing synth line to include it, and enhancing them with new UIs, improved sound quality + more while they're at it.
thx a lot! should be on windows the same i hope @anyone?plexuss wrote: Tue Feb 28, 2023 7:14 pmI dont have The Legend or the UAD.Lbdunequest wrote: Tue Feb 28, 2023 6:36 pmWhat about The Legend and UAD Minimoog?plexuss wrote: Tue Feb 28, 2023 6:03 pm I've owned original minimoogs since 1982 and have one here with both the old and new oscillator boards. So far the most realistic sounding emulation I've heard is the Softube one which sounds to me like it uses the old oscillator board (good!). I can't get into GForce to try the new demo but once I do I will let you know my opinion.
I got Minimonsta2 running. Sounds good to me. Has the essential essence of a minimoog. I don't get so picky about it frankly, as some of you. Its nice to have all the bells and whistles that GF added too. The Softube mini still sounds more like a real mini. But the GF Mini2 sounds good too. Great even. Nice addition to the mini emus out there. My expectations are not for an exact sonic recreation because frankly I dont think it's possible. For my uses GF mini2 will be good and I'll upgrade my mini1.
In some cases I find with leads on mini2 that the sound also takes on a bit of an Arp Odessy character which is not a bad thing.
Separate on macPOS.
What’s this “improved sound quality” you speak of? Seems to be the same sound engine as before?mholloway wrote: Wed Mar 01, 2023 3:59 amDie mad, I guess.zerocrossing wrote: Wed Mar 01, 2023 3:49 am But it is yet another Minimoog emulation. Easy move to understand afaic, but apparently you know what Gforce's development time should be spent on better than they themselves do![]()
I bet we see a new Imposcar in the months ahead.
