Hi there, it's a bit of time that I don't read and write here on KVR, since the switch to mainly hardware synths back in 2014.
Some weeks ago I decided to reopen and edit all my old projects I've since 2002, when I used mainly VST synths and Fruity Loops / FL Studio.
Installed Windows via Bootcamp on an old Mac that I've, set back Fruity Loops, and slowly opening all the projects and check for the missing plugins to reinstall them (I've a lot of freeware plugins saved on CD/DVD that can't be found anymore on the web, a treasure trove!)
What I've noticed, and I don't remeber at all, is that some projects, especially around 2004, when opening, they are searching for plugins with an added (z) at the end of the fruity wrapper name.
EG: "RGC Audio Triangle II" became "RGC Audio Triangle II (z)".
I can have RGC Audio Triangle II installed, but it is not the same plugin as RGC Audio Triangle II (z), it is considered like something else and the project take it as a missing plugin.
I don't remember if it was a wrapper for 32 to 64 bit plugins, or some rubbish plugin scan I've installed at that time.
I remember Novation Automap did something like that, renaming and duplicating plugins, but it was around 2012-2013 as far as I remember, and sure without that "(z)".
If any KVR veteran remember that kind of thing and can help me, would be very appreciated! :)

Thank you!

Novation Impulse will save a copy of the VST in a different name.
When you want to insert the vst, You will see two of the same in the DAW
You need to open the differently saved VST in FL studio for the midi controller knobs to work.
If you do not have Novation controller, use the regular VST.

There was another plugin/wrapper which wrapped plugins like this...

I don´t remember it´s name but it was about "freezing"!
It added a little wrapper part on top of the GUI of the plugin where you could hit some options and freeze it in realtime as far as I remember...

I wish they would have an identifier for their trial products. I started using the Luxeverb, then noticed it said 'Trial Version'.

Thanks Manga, but as initially wrote, that's something Novation released the first time around 2007, and I got an SL mk2 around 2012.
The projects were created around 2003/2004, to probably it's not the Automap wrapper.

Thanks Tancit, that's a good starting point for investigation, I'll check for that! :)

In the past, I remember that trial plugins were already trial on first startup.

Yes! Thanks Trancit, your starting point was essential!

Look at that guide, it was "another NI era", FM7, Absynth 2.0, B4...

It was described also on the only review here in KVR:
But how does it work. Well you start a standalone program, browse thru your folders and search for all those VST plugins you'd like to wrap (since it doesn't effect the behaviour or CPU load of your VSTs you might as well wrap all of them). Fx-freeze now creates a new dll file [plugin name (z)] and places them into your plugin folder. Now make some music.
Thanks again!

Yeah, as I read your post with the (z) at the end of the plugins name I could slightly remember there was a wrapper for freezing... glad it turned out as being correct! :tu:
