What? Am confused. Thread is AVENGER 1.85 the main thread. OP opened thread in 2016 and didn't make any update in 7 years? His last post tells that the trial version is an even older version than the old version 1.85? What? Isn't a trial version usually the current version to give a potential new customer the best version of a product? Without a trial version in future one can not even find out if it runs on one's system and the cpu performance, dev obviously doesn't care about loosing customers and scaring new potential ones off. Now I see, why some call him Dirk 2!
I never thought that I would write that, but there are some posts who make me curious and despite of all the strange things I m going to install the very old trial.
Am I really going to download the solo entertainer - edm softsynth called Avenger? - what an evil name with bad and aggressive energy!
Never thought I would, but honestly I am curious now.

Yes I am serious, I m going to demo Avenger. Maybe I will even have the opportunity to test the full version in a studio of a pal, I think he has every available softsynth.simmo75 wrote: Thu Mar 02, 2023 5:47 am There’s some proper muppets about! @Leo1999... hmm I regularly updated this threads name... in 2016, it was v1.0 ...
and no, even if being an EDM synth is not a bad thing, Avenger is NOT a pure EDM synth. Locking a versatile and open synth architecture, with granular, multisamples etc to a certain genre is stupid enough, but I even can prove, we ourselves do not release pure EDM packs... in fact do the math and compare all "non EDM" expansions we release to the "directly aimed to modern EDM" ones, and there is almost a 50/50 ratio. We did much Vintage Stuff (Synthwave, String Machines, Retrowave, Cyberpunk), Cinematic (Cinematic Grand, Cinematic 1-4), Ambient Stuff (Athmospherica, Chillout, Melancholia), even 8bit Chiptunes, Dystopia, Doomstep, Italo Disco, EuroDance 90s, German Schlager (Euro Party), Live Recorded things (XP Guitars 1-4) and some, which are clearly electronic, but not the current EDM market (Happy Hardcore, Acid, Breaks, DnB, LoFi, HipHop, BigTone, Granular XP etc etc etc)

I've been interested in Avenger for several years. For what it does it is more affordable than Falcon, Halion, Msoundfactory (Even though it's on sale) and the likes. The old anti-pirate model scared me off because I didn't know how it would run on my computer. Then, I saw that it was updated and started to check it out again and picked it up, the cinematic stuff is mind blowing. Patches are like 5x+ patches in one. The detail in an XP is amazing and very cared for, it's like a big project in and of itself- sometimes I think people just focus on technology, not look into how to actually use, and not the musicality of synths.

Hmm, 50/50 ratio...
Which means that at least half is geared toward EDM and in the other half, a few more that many consider to just be subsets of EDM. That's a lot.
Thanks for that "clarification".

If all the audio in your vid is Avenger, then you must have a different version than me and I have 1.85. C'mon, it's so obvious that you used some tape sim and analog synth in addition or maybe also samples. Avenger 's effect section has no tape sim! Hiding this obvious information is not cool, sorry, not cool at all!JS_SEA wrote: Wed Mar 01, 2023 5:44 am Hello
I completely disagree with some posts here holding the opinion Avenger is not versatile soundwise or limited to club music only. Imo it can cover almost every music style. The factory sounds and the big choice of top notch expansions give you a huge choice to create sounds for a lot of styles. The modulation potential is the best I know.
Avenger's most outstanding features for me are
sound quality, macro assignments, modenv, fm, quality of effects and the huge modulation potential for expressive and creative sound design. You can create any sound you want and as to in the face sounds Avenger is unmatched and can sound as analog as real analog synths.
I made a video with sound examples of Funkomanic presets to show a different side of Avenger and different music style different from what you are used to.
Every synth has its character and recognizability!

Avenger is capable of making such wonderful complex and analog sounding patches, that my entire 80s hardware-synth collection goes green with envy. Maybe I should do a video tutorial about this one day.
and the expansion you are working on must be very interesting "modular XP" which I imagine will come out for avenger 2.0
i hope avenger 2.0 will come out soon at least before summer.

sorry but no. "E"lectronic "D"ance "M"usic is a quite huge field. Ranging from Dark Hard Techno, to Melodic Trance, to Commercial Pop, to Deep House and all other kind of Electronic music. So even in that 50% there is very much variety and totally contrary genres.BBFG# wrote: Thu Mar 02, 2023 7:15 pm Hmm, 50/50 ratio...

If thats not enough, consider the mere existence of all these non-EDM packs as proof, that you can very well design your own sounds of ANY genre you like (yes, Avenger is a open synth, not just an expansion pack player). There is no way, a Synthesier that complex as Avenger, can be for EDM only. (the granular module of Avenger alone proves that). That also counts for other equally complex synths. Its not an "EMD only synth" then. Lets assume you have a synth, which only has 1 supersaw osc, 1 filter and envelope. No other modulation sources and possibilities. Well yes, THIS then could be a pure EDM synth, because you basically can do 1 kind of sounds.

Looking here at Synthmaster One's preset bank list, we have hmmmm, what a surprise nearly all of their packs are "EDM" imo...
What isn't EDM? Darkwave, Trap, Synthwave all sort of sound similar. There's Cinematic here on the page too but it even sounds like EDM imho... Not a knock on Synthmasyter, just that's pretty much how most synth soundbanks are like.
