Hi. I've been using tracktion 11 on a laptop and was wondering how I can transfer my projects to tracktion 12 on my desktop. Thanks!

Wow, that's a pretty wide potential compatability gap. Are projects pure audio, pure MIDI, or a mixture of both? Do you have equivalent VST's for 64 bit? (you probably have to replace/reselect VST for any of those).

In the normal case, you can archive them, take the copy to the other computer and open them - not sure you'll be able with such a wide gap - but it's worth a shot.

If not, then audio files can be "found" and moved. MIDI may have to be exported.

Will it be easier if I update my laptop to tracktion 12? Also, if I archive my edits, will I still be able to access them on my laptop?

I would think you would have to copy over everything the project file is calling to duty so to speak: audio/MIDI content, plugins, and of course, the project files. Will be a bit time consuming, but doesn't seem too difficult. More of a chore than anything else I would think.

None of my projects from version 11 lost anything when moving to version 12. It will not work to go back, there is a warning message about this. But, Waveform 12 sometimes surprises out of the blue :) you also need to remember this :)

i dont see the OP saying that he's using a 32-bit version, so why would this be an issue?

This is exactly right. I recently moved to a new system, and it is time consuming to reopen a large number of projects.

And yes, once opened in v12, they are converted upward. Be forewarned.

I must have been half asleep and reading Roman seeing 11 as 2 !

Yeah, semi-painless moving from 11 to 12. "backup" individually and move those files across and restore backups; or (untested) copy the entire folder structure that you have into an IDENTICALLY situated structure on the new machine. I.e. if you had c:\music\projects\<all your projects>, then copy to the new system with the same structure. Then on the new system, just open them.
