yeah id want a few lfos for brains :)
some of the sounds do benefit from constant movement across a few parameters :tu:

I missed out on a great offer, for 2 of the 6u cases for $440 after shipping & tax.

I hesitated and someone bought it first, but the hesitation was because I was always looking for a case that could close completely.

Having two, doesn’t seem bad, but I just don’t know if there any drawbacks to them.
I've read that while they are deeper than some skiffs that they may not be deep enough for some modules. I almost went that way at first...eons ago.
Thanks for that… I’ll dig a bit deeper. It looks like it has a depth of 76mm. I would need 80mm to fit my modules.

I’m just curious if the bottom half of the 6U case has more space, or is it 76mm without the power supply (because that would be even less than 76).

There's also a bigger version still, the Pro, with considerably more FX slots, internal LFOs and an OLED screen.
Yes, the pro looks really interesting too. Only scopecreep and budgetcreep... I started looking at the regular, then the xl, then ...
But swapping out the effects on the XL unit might get pretty tedious while the Pro can hold them all. I might take the plunge on the Pro version.

Two thoughts. First is that, depending on what you think the mixer will get the most use for, you might be better off filling that space with an attenuverting mixer that can be used as individual attenuverters or a mixer, as I've done in this rack.

Image

Second the A138 is a linear mixer that is DC-coupled so it can be used to mix CV as well as audio. That's good, but, another choice is a Moog C3p mixer clone that adds harmonics. These will typically be AC-coupled, so no good for CV. The AI Harmonic mixer is one choice as is the ADDDAC 0703

Granted, that's expensive assembled. I got a kit which is MUCH more reasonably priced.

Of course there's the Behringer version, which is WAY too wide.

The Doepfer is reasonably priced though and is a good basic flexible choice.

Another thought is to just take out the mixer and put in a Maths. This will take some of your other space but will give you a lot of really nice modulation tools to play with and enhance the 2600. Yes, it will cost quite a bit more.

I'd probably want to make that HP filter work a little harder. Here's my $1400 take on a full rack.

i do like maths 8)
even now, years down the line, it's in most patches, somehow!

Actually, this could work… I have to say I love Modular Grid.

The data sheet shows that Arturia’s power supply is 80mm in depth. Everything else is less than the max 76 listed, so it won’t be a barrier.

I’m once again liking this idea of x2 6U Rackbrutes. I just don’t like the price (especially after missing both for $440).

EDIT:

Looks like there’s room to grow if I go this route (plus I’ll likely keep the pods as an eventual overflow.

These are my current modules.

What is your experience with foldprocessor and cvilization?

Post

Tell me if you are getting bored of filters.
They are just so tasty. :D

You can do a lot in the box but for this kinda sounddesign i guess you need to go modular.

Oops, slotted in the high pass filter instead of the multi mode I meant to :clown:
Added some LFOs and an alternative mixer as advised.
Still trying to keep the cost down.

I m thinking some noise and S&H should be in there somewhere...

It's to exapand the 2600 which has that covered.

You had to pick those two! :hihi:
I think Vurt and Justin3am should be the ones to talk about cvilization. I have primarily used it as a matrix mixer, but occasionally use the sequential switch which I liked, but haven't gone back to in a bit.

The fold processor has consistently been the 1st module to be removed to make way for other gear. It's only just recently made its way back, but I haven't used it.

I got sucked in after watching a divkid video, and it was an impulse buy (shabdabriah called it). I do plan on keeping and using it (this time, I hope).

I am now thinking VCAs so I can sequence the three 2600 oscillators and the Brains separately. I am using a Korg SQ 64 with its 3 tracks with CV and Gate outs plus the drum track with 8 gates. But only one VCA on the 2600.
Not sure I’ve got my head around Envelopes, VCAs and Gates, it’s all sorted for you on non modular synths.
