Midi files...where are they stored?

Are Tracktion midi clips not necessarily midi files until rendered as a midi file? I'm trying to find a clip that was inadvertently replaced with an audio render. Am I out of luck? I can't find any .mid files in any of the usual locations.

If they aren't midi files, what are they and where are they stored? :?

Any ideas?

BK,

Check on the project tab. If the midi clip exists by itself separate from the edit, it should be there. Also, the midi clip may be 'hidden' by the audio clip on that track. I think if you highlight the track, down in the lower left of the screen, right click on tracks, and there should be an option to bring obscured tracks to the top. Hopefully this is all that happened, but you probably already tried this.

Thanks for the reply, Scott.

Yeah, it doesn't show on the project tab and it isn't obscured by any other track.
So, do midi clips only exist in the edit where they were created? :help:

I think so, unless you export them as midi - then I think they will show up in the project tab. Imported midi data shows up there, with a little keyboard symbol next to it.

By the way, I thought that T's midi editor stunk at first glance, but I've used it more and I do like how it shows which controllers were used in a clip, and how you can edit them graphically. I just wish it had a notation editor.
