This is a few weeks old - they have updated all their AAXs to silicon, and there's a few other minor things and bug fixes.

Would be great if there was a demo though.

Paying $500 to see if you like it and then not being able to resell it... I don't know.

There are way too many factory patches and most of them sound very similar to each other. You can take any patch from Omnisphere and with slight tweaking make it sound like 20 other presets.
And ironically there are very few factory multi presets.
With such a beast I expected it to come with lots of interesting multis, especially that each instance supports 8 parts.

Their Atmosphere synth was a must have, top of the line, synth 20 years ago.
And I still use Stylus RMX in every project.

I think that Omnisphere 2 is still worth it in 2023. I did this track using only Omnisphere 2 and Stylus RMX and it holds up just as good as all my modern hardware and software synths.

There’s never been one. The closest you get is if a particular retailer has a discount, they can be about 20% off I think IIRC.

Here in the UK it is £360 from Amazon, but Anderton’s have it at £319. I doubt it will ever get much lower than that.

I think many people think of Omnisphere as a preset browser (like Nexus, but better), because Synth side of it is quite outdated now.

And, not the Omnisphere itself but Keyscape and Trillian are great.

That'll be our old friend the exchange rate. It was about 1.4:1 in 2018, more like 1.2:1 in 2023. Moreover, Apple now have a HIGHER number in £ than $, that switch happened some time in the last couple of years so I wonder if other B-word related factors make things in the UK relatively even more expensive than the exchange rate slide. The sunlit uplands.

So I think with today's rates, that's about as good as you're likely to get.

People pay more for any hardware synth that has 1/5 of the capabilities and sound quality. Omnisphere certainly isn’t cheap, but it’s one you get years upon years of good use out of and still come up with new sounds.
