I dunno, that Audrey and Japri thing is an abomination and I can't imagine anyone would find that Mexican Radio cover anything but dreadful. And if I was going to pick a Sisters cover, it would be their version of Hot Chocolate's Emma, not Gimme Shelter, which just sounds terrible.

I think most people, including myself, prefer the originals to covers 90% of the time but sometimes you get gems like Jimi Hendrix doing Bob Dylans All Along the Watchtower....

Dylan said: ""It overwhelmed me, really. He had such talent, he could find things inside a song and vigorously develop them. He found things that other people wouldn't think of finding in there. He probably improved upon it by the spaces he was using."

Also Devos version of "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" is tasty.....

It really shows an artist talent when its done well......

Here are a couple career changing covers.....

Let's be honest, though, it's not hard to sound better than Dylan. All his songs sound better when someone else sings them.

That version really does nothing for me. It's easily the weakest track on their first album. It's definitely better than their version of Working in a Coal Mine, though, but not as good as Secret Agent Man.

I think dying young was the best thing that happened to Jeff Buckley's career. It took Hallelujah around 15 years after its (album) release to chart. For 10 of those years he'd been dead.

I think, mostly, people like the first version of a song they hear or the one they have heard the most. A cover needs to be really, really good or offer something different and good to be able to cut through that preference.

I quite like this. I find Primus very hit and miss, though. Their cover of XTC's Making Plans for Nigel leaves a bit to be desired.
