I'm back with more details!

In fact, the GUI size is reset when the plugin is displayed on an external screen.
On my laptop screen it's working correctly 🧐

Any news about this?
I just upgrade my free bundle to use MAnalyzer 😔

Hello,

We have found this issue when using Reaper and macOS Ventura on multiple screens and reported this to Reaper developers. From your statetement it looks like the issue is also in older macOS version 12.6 etc. So this is new information to me and I will report this immediatelly too, thank you for your info.

I have tested this personally under in 8+ DAWs under macOS and this issue (not saving window size / position when using multiple screens) was only when using Reaper. So this one is not on our side.

Anyway, we have made quite a few fixes for GUI under macOS in the next release for all VST plugins, so it will be generally much better soon.

I can report a similar issue in Logic too actually, only noticed it today as well. When I open a Melda plugin on my native MBP screen, the GUI will be vert zoomed in to the point that I only see the bottom right corner, but if I drag the window out to my external monitor, it resets to normal size.

Here's a screenshot of the issue, where I've opened 2 instances of MAutoDynamicEQ (one on my Mac screen and one on the external display):

I tried reinstalling all my Melda plugins, but that didn't seem to resolve it. This doesn't happen with the VST3 versions I have in Bitwig.

Details:
MacBook Pro 14" M1 Pro on Ventura 13.3
Logic Pro 10.7.7

Yes, we know about this issue under macOS Ventura in native mode in multi screen setup. Have you tried to run Logic Pro in Rosetta mode? As far as I know the problem is not reproducible in Rosetta mode.

Anyway, we are working hard together with Apple on fixes of this kind of issues.

Here's an important update for Reaper users. We have discovered, together with the Reaper developers, that the GUI reset issue in a multi-screen setup is caused by different launch conditions in the new macOS.

The problem is visible if you launch Reaper from Docker or Launchpad, but if you launch it from Finder, Terminal, Spotlight, or a desktop shortcut, everything is fine.

As a temporary workaround, you can use this method, but there will soon be a fixed version of Reaper available.

Hey great news!

I think my issue is a bit different as I just tested with the new pre-release of Reaper (including the changelog line about external monitor fix) and I still have the GUI reset problem.
But I'm on Monterey and not Ventura so I guess either your UI improvements announced 2 messages above are gonna fix it for me too or at one point I'm gonna update to Ventura and hopefully everything would work correctly.

Anyway, thank you for taking the time to check on this issue, it's really appreciated.

UPDATE
I switched to MacOS Ventura & Reaper m1 native version with the announced fix "+ macOS: workaround Ventura multimonitor issue by deferring initialization of windows until after applicationDidFinishLaunching: completes" and the GUI gets reset every time…
😞

It happens whenever I launch Reaper from Docker, Finder or Spotlight.

Any announced date for the next version of MP plugins with the discussed GUI fixes?

Update Melda Plugins to 16.05 and the issue is still there 😣

And btw, GUI of Melda AU format is completely missing in Reaper, at least on my system…

Hello 1frabrass,

We mixed two issues in this thread at the same time:-) In Reaper, there was a bug where the DAW did not remember the monitor position/size of the plugin when reopening the project. This bug has been resolved in the latest Reaper release and our version 16.05.

Unfortunately, there is an additional issue when changing the size of the Melda plugin on an external monitor under macOS and then hiding/showing it. It resets the plugin to its default size. This is what you originally reported, I believe. We recently discovered this issue as well and have already fixed it. The fix will be officially released in the next update.

Regarding the issue of no GUI in Reaper for AU Plugins at all, I experienced it once too and resolved it by rescanning/reinstalling the plugins in Reaper and restarting my Mac. It never appeared again after that. I hope this solution helps you.

Oh ok, thanks for clarifying the situation.

I'm glad the issue has finally been identified!
Cheers Martin!
