I thought about the 55 for a minute after the price drop. Had they done that before my modular upgrade here, I might have started with that. That said, for me, I think that it's not the right choice. If you want a reasonable facsimile of the Moog modular experience in a smaller size, I think that it's great. I also think that some of the modules are very much worth it. I have the 960 and 962, the filter bank, and the high pass filter. What turns me off about the full experience is how so many of the utility modules are so wide. I really wanted a Moog C3m style mixer, but I couldn't bring myself to buy the super wide mixer with mults. I might have been convinced had the price been where it is now, but instead, I went with more flexible and more modern variants of the design.

Another thing that I hate is s-triggers.

Finally, after it's all said and done, it's the wrong mix of modules for me. My modular is kind of hybrid old school/new school. I would probably have to get rid of too much that I didn't like.

Now, had they released a 2500 version, I would have jumped on that.

I don’t really have room in my rack for this right now, but I wanted one to go with the DCO since I picked that up and have just ordered a used one for about 2/3rds the price new.

Still the best part of £2000 for the Behringer 35 this side of the Atlantic :/

Well, I could give iZotope $149 to upgrade to the latest bundle of shit, and give Waves $240 so that I can use the plugins that I've already purchased, or, for just under $400 I can buy a 4-channel scope to sit on top of my modular so that I stop borrowing my 2-channel from my shop.

..decisions..

I might entertain the izotope offer in November

Waves, I removed before the fiasco, because I didn’t want to pay the WUP to get them to run.

I’d go for the scope. DATA?

I'm torn on this. DATA is great, and I really like its other features, but, I also use scopes all the time, I mean ALL. THE. TIME! I have several old tek scopes in my garage that I use on my repair bench and I'd like to just get rid of them because they are so large. Don't get me wrong, they're cool, but they're large. So, no, most likely I'm considering either a GW, Rigol, or Siglent 50Mhz, 4 channel. I really like the size, angle, and the features of a proper scope in that context. I think that I'll want to create a simple module that has 1/8" inputs and BNC outputs on the back so that I don't have to clip my probes to a patch cable all the time. Or maybe not, maybe I'll just build some simple 1/8" to BNC adapters. So a second modern scope with four channels would get a lot more use than a dedicated Eurorack scope, for me.

At any rate, I don't know yet. A good deal on a used DATA would probably swing me that way as I like it's tuner and DVM features.

My entire studio is getting a redo. I'm not sure that I will give iZotope any money, even in November. I'm leaning towards given Urs some whenever NI does their next bundle sale on his effects. That said, the last few years have really gotten under my skin with software. The NI/Izotope/PA bundles are all incestuous and, when I look at all the crap in their bundles, I realize that I'm not using half the shit that I already own.

I couldn't resist Izotope, despite having decided to cut back on plugins from them...but I like'em.

Like the look of the Oxi Coral but the sound demo video was a little wonky

Yeah, 'looks' cool, and I liked the rhythmic bits between 0:58-1:17, but otherwise... not exactly how I would show something off, with the claimed potential. Doubtless someone may do so, in a redemptive manner.

So I got the Varigate 4+ the other day and although there’s a slider for scale - maj, min, pentatonic etc - but I can’t see any control or mention in the manual of a way to set root note to anything other than C. The varigate 8+ has a ROOT slider for tracks, but anyone know a fix on the 4+ ?

Would be annoying if I have to use a quantiser module as that would screw up slides although I could just do an Omri Cohen and play everything in C minor.

Edit: I raised this on reddit and someone helpfully pointed out that the note produced is all relative to how the oscillator is tuned so if tuned 2 semitones lower you pump out an A# major etc so yes, I need to keep my Boss TU-80 on standby.

SoundForce DCO + VCF/VCA6 = yum.

I like my Doepfer Wasp filter, but this is a truly wonderful combo.

My YoMo stuff finally got through customs. vBST does the job as I'd hoped, and will also go a bit into overdrive. The ADSR is way too deep to fit in the Pod 60 though -- it'd be too deep even without the ribbon header. I could move Function into the Pod instead, but I don't think I want to give it up in the main case so I'll just wait and see how BrutePest does without an extra envelope. My attention is on other stuff right now anyway.

My delptronics boards came today. They are pretty nice and I like their simple tool for creating a gerber file for your panel. I haven't ordered a PCB in ages though so I'll probably get it wrong the first eight times. The appear to be totally worth it for RAW diy IMO.
