Isn’t the Intellijel a clone of the MI one? I don’t know, I assume if Behringer are selling them legally then they’re not pirating anything. The best thing about the module IMO is how the inputs are normalled e.g. four audios in and just the first given an envelope it normals to envelope all, four audios in and stick just one audio cable in the rightmost output and it normals as a mixed output.
There’s also a very interesting VCA named Valvs by Pusherman which has four real valves, one per channel, but it’s currently out of stock built.

but kits available if you can build stuff ok

The comments were largely about the design similarity. This always confuses me because Roland has threatened people for less, but, the Behringer close definitely are copying the xox line in terms of look and feel.WatchTheGuitar wrote: ↑Sat Apr 01, 2023 3:41 pm Isn’t the Intellijel a clone of the MI one? I mean, that's a clone for sure. Is the intellijel a clone of something else? I dunno, the schematics aren't subject to copyright, so, other than look and feel, it's all fair game. The Behringer is about half the price of the intellijel.

Intellijel Quad VCA and Veils v1 have quite a few differences: the total available gain, switchable gain, offset / amount controls, cascading CV input, LED indicators on output vs CV.
They have a similar design remit of "compact quad VCA with continuously variable exp/lin character" and presumably both use a couple of 2164 chips. Apart from that a lot of the design choices were different.

They’re about $95 with shipping from Andertons. Definitely not bad.ghettosynth wrote: ↑Sat Apr 01, 2023 3:31 pmMaybe we'll get them soon. At $20 a VCA, with linear and expo, that's pretty hard to beat. Some folks were grumbling that it's a design clone of the intellijel module.WatchTheGuitar wrote: ↑Sat Apr 01, 2023 3:25 pmI’ve got two Four Plays and they’re great.
Andertons in UK have 8 in stock at £79 each.

I’m still considering going with the Veils 2 clone only because it’d free up some hp down the line. It’s an extra $50 compared to Four Play.

My first (and probably last) purchase for today.
Found a great deal on a like-new Keystep 37 with a Decksaver today. This will make a perfect little dedicated controller for my SE-1X, since it doesn’t have an arp or sequencer.

Worth mentioning that if you don't want 4 channels then there are also the Ken Stone (DIY) and L-1 (kit or prebuilt) tube VCA modules which it was based on.WatchTheGuitar wrote: ↑Sat Apr 01, 2023 3:41 pm There’s also a very interesting VCA named Valvs by Pusherman which has four real valves, one per channel, but it’s currently out of stock built.

Just ordered my MI Veils clone along with Erica Synths Pico Input.
This will free up 4-8hp down the line and provide the needed VCAs.
This system is getting better.

Thanks for the reminder. I want some tube stuff in my kit and I have all of the parts for some pure tube DIY so that should be fun.imrae wrote: ↑Sun Apr 02, 2023 8:40 amWorth mentioning that if you don't want 4 channels then there are also the Ken Stone (DIY) and L-1 (kit or prebuilt) tube VCA modules which it was based on.WatchTheGuitar wrote: ↑Sat Apr 01, 2023 3:41 pm There’s also a very interesting VCA named Valvs by Pusherman which has four real valves, one per channel, but it’s currently out of stock built.
