I mean, the manually lists out all the people who did the software, did the DSP, did the libraries etc... They all seem like Arturia people, and there aren't any Relab people listed there, that I recognise anyway...Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Tue Apr 04, 2023 6:00 pm This might sound insane: but are we sure it's not Relab?

Ok, it just popped into my mind after having read that quote from Relab recently then seeing this.beely wrote: Tue Apr 04, 2023 6:01 pmI mean, the manually lists out all the people who did the software, did the DSP, did the libraries etc... I actually thought this may be the case, based on the ‘LX’ naming convention. I haven’t downloaded the demo yet, but I was planning on checking the credits for Martin Lind.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Tue Apr 04, 2023 6:00 pmThis might sound insane: but are we sure it's not Relab?

If he’s there, then it’s definitely an instant buy. (OK, it was going to be anyways.)

I think this is the best sounding reverb i have heard so far. But man the CPU usage is insane.
Now i kinda want to test UAD Lexicon 224. I have Native Instruments RC24, it sounds similar but not as Hi-Fi as Arturia.

I think given my above comments on this, you can take it as read he isn't...jamcat wrote: Tue Apr 04, 2023 6:07 pm I was planning on checking the credits for Martin Lind.

Wish they had released this a week ago. My UAD extended 3 month trial just expired, so unfortunately I can’t compare now.
Anyone know if LX-24 includes the original 224 factory banks?

This sounds absolutely amazingly good! Definitely the best vintage Lexicon thing I have available. Really nice that you can further modify things.
It does the Lexicon "blends with anything" extremely well. Basically the complete opposite of ValhallaVintageVerb (most algorithms, not all of them though) which always seems to need some EQ or other tweaks to make it sit in a mix better.
For 29€ loyalty price this is a 100% no-brainer. Instant purchase.

No it's not unless they're using the exact same algorithm.jamcat wrote: Tue Apr 04, 2023 4:59 pm It is odd that it would take that much CPU to emulate a digital reverb algorithm that ran on an 8-bit 3 MHz Intel 8080 processor from 1974.

I highly recommend NOT going for just the "emulation" part of this. It's soooo much more than that. You have amazing control over all aspects of the reverb!

I'm giving the demo a go and testing alongside NI's (Softubes) RC24. Yea they might not be the same model or firmware whatever but I'm just comparing the sound of the reverbs side by side since I already own the RC.
First off Arturia's LX uses 4 times the CPU as the RC on my test system. Not a deal breaker but something worth noting.
To be honest I'm not hearing a four times better reverb sound out of the Arturia model on my source material but of course that's subjective.
Second I loath "stuff on a desktop" interfaces but I realize the wasted space on the main window is needed on the advanced window (but is it really?)
My upgrade price is $49 so I think I'll pass for the time being. Perhaps there will be a sale on down the road.
So not a bad sounding reverb at all, just didn't convince me to buy it now at least at my current upgrade price.

A quick play of the demos tempts me. Need to demo it properly though. I see on Arturia's blurb that it needs 6GB free disk space!? Is it impulse-based? Not buying if that's the case, I already have plenty of impulses I'm happy with, though it's still a good price for that. If it's algorithmic reverb, WTF does it need 6 GB of space? Something doesn't stack up...

They are also doing things the original hardware just did implicitly without using it's computer - eg, digitally modelling the transformer I/O stages, the convertor performance and other things, and those things will add some processing burden.briefcasemanx wrote: Tue Apr 04, 2023 8:36 pmNo it's not unless they're using the exact same algorithm.jamcat wrote: Tue Apr 04, 2023 4:59 pm It is odd that it would take that much CPU to emulate a digital reverb algorithm that ran on an 8-bit 3 MHz Intel 8080 processor from 1974.
