There's nothing "my" about it, it is one of the most highly request features, for at least two development cycles now and would be perfect for a point release, since it's a basic, utilitarian feature that literally every other DAW has. It would be kind of sad for such a low-level feature to be dressed up and pushed as some major breakthrough in major release; Live 8 brought in Max for Live, Bitwig 3 gave us the Grid, Live 12 now with Bounce in Placerod_zero wrote: Wed Apr 05, 2023 2:15 amoh no, a point version without my requested feature!!!! i give up in life!!!!andypryce wrote: Tue Apr 04, 2023 9:47 am https://www.ableton.com/en/release-note ... ive-1131b1

if it's just a clip, i'll just use the resampling channel or solo and record into an audio track. i've never really thought that much about bounce in place for that reason and because it's such a common tactic, i dare say this is why it gets pushed down the priority stack.
with a bounce-in-place command, you've got to have some menu to decide what and how to bounce. unless you're dealing with monster clips, i'm not sure you're losing a lot of time to just render the clip in real time via resampling.

In Bitwig you can bounce a clip with a single keystroke, no menus (you choose the audio settings in preferences). Freeze/flatten or freeze/drag or manual resample in Live is monumentally slow and clunky by comparison.gaggle of hermits wrote: Wed Apr 05, 2023 7:47 am with a bounce-in-place command, you've got to have some menu to decide what and how to bounce. unless you're dealing with monster clips, i'm not sure you're losing a lot of time to just render the clip in real time via resampling.

Ableton Live stock instruments are so good, only if there were more presets available for people like me who do not sound design much. I'd not want to use that many third party vsts then.

I agree- especially if you are a PUSH user, its like being in a self contained hardware environment with a big screen!musicproducerdee wrote: Wed Apr 05, 2023 7:58 am Ableton Live stock instruments are so good, only if there were more presets available for people like me who do not sound design much. Not my one bizzare feature request,it is the most requested on beta forum for years. And I said I do not expect to have it anymore and use it as it is. Move on.

I hate to be that guy, but there are literally dozens of preset sites offering presets for Ableton devices and racks. It's just a Google search away.musicproducerdee wrote: Wed Apr 05, 2023 7:58 am Ableton Live stock instruments are so good, only if there were more presets available for people like me who do not sound design much. I agree the way its done is a bit weird (as are may things like midi channel handling) but I suspect some things are sort of 'baked in' and not easy to fix (or we would have had in clip editing by now as well!). You are right, you either learn to live with it or you move to Bitwig (or use both like meandypryce wrote: Wed Apr 05, 2023 8:16 amFunny guy.rod_zero wrote: Wed Apr 05, 2023 2:15 amoh no, a point version without my requested feature!!!! i give up in life!!!!andypryce wrote: Tue Apr 04, 2023 9:47 am https://www.ableton.com/en/release-note ... ive-1131b1

Probably alot more work for Operator. That said since that is their flagship synth, it is highly likely they are working on it. My guess is they probably want to revamp the synth some more to make it more modern.aMUSEd wrote: Tue Apr 04, 2023 10:15 am Nice that the AAS devices now have MPE (more than their own do) but why no MPE for Operator still?

I hate that they won't address this and give us a better option. I suspect part of it is their attempt to prevent copying of certain samples. Whatever Ableton. Many are ornery about this one feature that other DAWs do so much better.SLiC wrote: Wed Apr 05, 2023 10:51 amI agree the way its done is a bit weird (as are may things like midi channel handling) but I suspect some things are sort of 'baked in' and not easy to fix (or we would have had in clip editing by now as well!). You know, for me the biggest difference between Ableton and Bitwigs devices is:a9k1tp wrote: Tue Apr 04, 2023 8:23 pm Glad I picked Bitwig. Drift is nothing compared to Polymer in Bitwig.
It´s hard to make Ableton devices sound bad... while with Bitwigs devices it´s hard to make them sound good...
I wrote on purpose "for me"... perhaps I am just the wrong person using them and while Bitwig devices might be technically correct, they lack for exactly this type of "fine tuning" Abletons devices seem to have and what makes for me the difference between an "expensive" and a "cheap" plugin...
Let´s use better "valuable" as a term than "expensive" because it isn´t price related...
But in those plugins, developers have taken care that the GUI represents parameters which have a "good sounding range" if you know what I mean... and most likely do a lot more than just adjusting the actual parameter alone...
In hardware times they did not just put together some correct circuits for processing but invested really a lot of time finetuning every function that no matter at what settings it sounds great without much effort...
Bitwig´s devices and modulators are looking all fine on the paper but they are not finetuned at all... while in Ableton every setting of parameters gives me instantly useable results, do I have to spend tweaking over tweaking to get hardly anything I like out of Bitwigs stuff...
Bitwig´s FM is for me complete rubbish ...it lacks completely the bite and grittiness I have in Operator or Sampler immediately with the slighest settings and Drift is no exception there...
Drift is i.e. a great demonstration how much one can get out of such a small GUI/featureset with the highest possible flexibility... context sensitive in nearly every aspect and includes everything "valuable" you actually need for getting great and outstanding results without endless tabbing and tweaking sessions...
For my personal taste Live devices have had always great sounding filters which nailed the sweetspot for me exactly and after Cytomic´s additions it only got better
The Reverb in Bitwig is by far the worst I´ve heard in 20 years plugin technology and they should be ashamed to have put such crap as one of the main fx processors in music production in there...
To have a pure convolution reverb as "replacement" doesn´t make the situation any better... especially not with this poor feature set...
For me it´s like (just in comparisson between those 2):
Ableton = much slower development pace but what they release is well thought through and very very pleasant sounding especially for electronic music...
If they don´t come up with better stuff themselves they hire or license 3rd party to do it for them...
Bitwig = spitting out without much thinking... the main thing is that it is technically correct but without any finetuning at all and (again) for me a nightmare and huge effort to make something useful out of the stuff...
Great ideas and for sure many improvements of DAW weaknesses compared to Live but very often poorly implemented and (again) not finetuned at all...
Again... that´s just me and I don´t know if I have expressed myself correctly to understand what I mean...
Feel free to have a different opinion and have made different experiences!
