Horses for courses, I hate the MSEGs in Serum and pretty much every other synth but I use the Shape Sequencer in Hive all of the time. Yes it's limited, but that's what is great about it imo and it is in keeping with the overall theme of the synth, which is speed/efficiency, inter-connectivity and funtimes.a9k1tp wrote: Tue Apr 04, 2023 8:10 pmYou hallucinating?Urs wrote: Sun Apr 02, 2023 11:09 amyes exactly, Serum has traditional ADSR envelopes instead of “only MSEGs” and Steve is still in business. You’re not really contradicting what you quoted , and what I said before.a9k1tp wrote: Sun Apr 02, 2023 8:41 am
Serum's only got ADSR and MSEGs and is still in business.
MSEGs are easy to use. They are not overkill.![]()

I never said/quoted anything regarding "only MSEGs"![]()

My only point - MSEGs are WYSIWYG modulators. Great for people who are not fortunate enough to use hardware synths before.
If Hive included better or equivalent MSEGs compared to Serum, I would have completely stopped using Serum. [Not a request, just my opinion, what I feel missing].
Hive is a great synth, but modulation system is difficult, especially for the basic things I am used to do in Serum.
Personally I think modulation in Serum is highly overrated. There's lots of it available and it's very visual, but it's not a very fun synth to program because you can't connect things up in interesting ways, like you can in Hive.
Hive is like a compact modular system (with a whole case of utility modules hidden under the table), dressed up as a classic VA/subtractive synth to make it more user friendly, which is awesome and kind of unique.
