I'm not sure how is changing the path locally on the same computer different from that path being different on a different computer, but sure, I can test this between my desktop and my Surface, in hosts I have installed on Surface at the very least (Reaper, Live, Maschine).

The thing is, though, that it isn't a problem until you move to another computer, which is stupid. It knows where the samples are but it seems to refuse to even look for them. There is something weird going on that NI needs to fix.
This is exactly what I'm experiencing on a Mac. You hit it right on the head.

Almost 3 months later (overall more than a year) and... still no bug fix

Let’s talk about it 5 years later

mi-os wrote: Tue Jan 24, 2023 11:57 am Jeremy_NI pointed another thread out (from march 2022) which is the main thread for this bug:
https://community.native-instruments.co ... 4-bt4-2680

There is even a knowledge base article about it:
https://support.native-instruments.com/ ... TERY-4-2-0
The Knowledge Base article suggests a work around that does work, but only if your original project did not use multiple outputs. If you replace the old instance with a new one, all the multi output tracks, their settings and efx plug-in chains will disappear from the project when the new Battery instance is loaded. That can be worked around too, but it’s a PITA.

That workaround is no solution in my case since i have way too many files/versions. I mean the reason to use software is to make life easier, not harder with cumbersome and repetitive tasks.

There is something very wrong at NI. Totally unprofessional to leave bugs unfixed for so long. It's almost as if they just don't care at this point and rather sabotage/suicide themselves. Worrying situation.

I solved the problem - I got rid of Battery from all our songs. If you aren't using any of NI's samples, why not just switch to Groove Agent? It's at least as good as Battery, probably better overall.

I have tried reading the NI thread but I still don't understand if it only affects Mac versions or also happens when you stay on Windows, even changing PC...

Thanks,
Mario

I'm on PC. It seems all platforms are affected or maybe just the VST3 versions. idk

The problem is i have many old project files in which i used Battery. Unfortunately no new plugin can solve that issue retroactively.

I'll look into other drum samplers. Maybe using Cubase sampler track could be a good alternative. But i need to try that first. Otherwise i only have the bundled Groove Agent (SE?) which comes with Cubase Pro. I don't know if i would like it. Battery 3 was almost perfect back when they knew what they were doing at NI.

Battery 4.3 keeps asking for missing samples (even when pointed to new location)
Good. I thought this problem was just for me.

I've replaced it in more than 20 songs. It doesn't take as long as you think it will.

It's great. It does all the same things as Battery plus a few others.

If you're using Logic, move to Drum Machine Designer.

Exce0pt he's not using Logic, which you'd know if you bothered to read more than just the thread title.
